EU's von der Leyen calls for 'Marshall Plan' for Europe

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called on EU nations to invest billions in the bloc's budget to avert catastrophic economic consequences from the current coronavirus crisis.

"We need a Marshall Plan for Europe," she wrote in a guest article for the paper Welt am Sonntag, referring to the recovery program put in place by the US from 1948-1952 to help Western European economies after World War II.

She said that the EU budget was accepted by all member states as a means of leveling out inequalities in a spirit of solidarity and that it should now be tailored to cope with the crisis.

"The many billions that have to be invested today to avert a greater catastrophe will bind the generations together," she wrote, calling the crisis a chance to renew the feeling of community among the nations of Europe.

The EU is currently enmired in debate about how to deal with the burden of debt among its member states. The finance ministers in the Eurogroup are set to discuss the bloc's finances during the coronavirus crisis on Tuesday.

What about a “Putin Plan” for Europe?

Or, in the short term, an “Erdogan Plan” for Europe?

Or, thinking really long term, a “Xi Plan” for Europe?

A new “Marshall Plan” is just a pick-the-US-pocket venture, not a real plan.

We demand you send the money to Brussels.

Don’t be selfish and keep it for your nation.

It’s the ounce of prevention cliche. Didn’t work here because it wasn’t applied.

In this ‘game’....the top three to five countries of the EU, would hand cash to the EU to distribute out to the other twenty-odd countries. If you were Dutch, German or French....you’d figure this game out rather quickly.

“Where are you going to get the money?”

Where else, Germany. None of them will politically be able to issue debt for the benefit of others outside their borders. Their people will go crazy if their social welfare programs are jeopardized and insist the debt go for their benefit exclusively. In the end the German people will also tell the rest of Europe to pound sand. Say goodbye to the Eurodollar as the PIGS issue their own national currency to contend with the crisis.

the Marshal Plan created what economists call “self retiring debt.” It invested in power plants and companies that could repay the debt. Whether they repaid it or not isn’t relevant. What the MP did was build stuff that created wealth. The Eu is socialist. Therefore the money will be spent on socialist projects like increasing the retirement pay, and the like, for people who retire in their fifties instead of their late sixties. In other words, the money will not repay itself. Once spent it is gone forever. It’s like bailing out Greece, and the PIGS, but at a larger and more destructive scale.

The fact that citizens of countries bailed out by the EU have had their bank accounts “robbed” to pay back the bailout money means the Euro is finished. After that happened there was a rush by people and institutions holding Eros to switch to other currencies. The Euro is finished. Therefore, the EU is done for as well.

The other thing that made the MP a success was the US opened its markets, the largest in the world, to those countries so they could export their way back to prosperity. That will not happen again. So, who, in this world of collapsing demographics, are the Europeans going to export their socialist made, ultra-expensive products to?

I bet there would be special qualifiers fro Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic before they could get a penny.

Qualifier #1. You must open your borders to as many 'migrants as we we tell you to.

Qualifier #2. You must allow your culture and national identity to be destroyed, see qualifier #1.

Qualifier #3. You must allow your women and children to be raped and abused, your males to be murdered, your property to be vandalized and destroyed by the 'migrants' and while this is happening you must pay the 'migrants' throw your citizens out of their homes and 'give' the homes to the 'migrants'. See Qualifier #1.

Yes. It was named after an American. We didn’t attach future strings to it. You can bet China or Russia would. I say to Europe be careful what you wish for.
