Lord Bath has died at the age of 87 after contracting coronavirus.

Longleat, the park and home he ran, announced on Twitter the 7th Marquess of Bath died on Saturday at the Royal Bath United Hospital.

He was admitted there on 28 March where it was confirmed he had the virus.

In the statement, his family appealed for privacy and thanked the medical team which "cared so professionally and compassionately" for him in his final days.

As a former zookeeper, I'm very sad about Lord Bath's passing, as, in many ways, he was a more harmless, high-class, British version of Joe Exotic in that he combined the flamboyant styles (as he was a self-taught artist and writer), along with the polygamous lifestyle of "Doctor" "Bhagavan" (Kevin) Antle (Lord Bath likewise kept his 'junior wives' (or 'wifelets') as he called them, in separate cottages on his estate. Lord Bath (along with the Chipperfield Family of circus lion trainers), also started the concept of the "Lion Safari" style of zoological parks, with Lord Bath's "Lions of Longleat" as the first of these parks, with Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee, FL as the second, and African Lion Safari in Cambridge, ON as the third.

Also, there was a 1960s documentary on British ghosts that included a segment from Longleat. If memory serves, some ancestor had killed his wife’s lover, and a restless spirit could still be sensed in the Bishops Library??

I see Emma hasn’t changed her title on her instagram page yet.

The son has been running the business operations for a while now.

The wifelets probably need to find boxes for their belongings now though.

87 year old Lord Bath, the 88 year old voice actress who did “Cindy Bear” on “The Yogi Bear Show”, the 86 year old who “Starred” in a movie with Audrey Hepburn (she was a nun postulant on the screen for five minutes? 19th billed in IMDB) and played a school teacher in one episode of “The Patty Duke Show”). The world’s most famous celebrities are dropping like flies during the peak of their youth!

Isn’t “Marquess” the feminine form, or do I misremember?

Regardless, RIP.

No.

It’s “Marquis” (m) and “Marquise” (f) in most European countries, and “Marquess” (m) and “Marchioness” (f) in the UK.

Just read that he had STOMACH CANCER, and yet he died of that “more terrible than cancer coronavirus.”

Strange and hard to believe.

He was one of those loveable old scoundrels, who you thought was going to live forever. Even now, I can see G-d and the Devil in an argument over Lord Bath. :P

Devil (to G-d): “Nah, I don’t want him. You can have him.”
G-d: “No, YOU take him!”
Devil: “Nah...”

I must have been living in a bubble.

I never heard of this famous celebrity. Although, from what I read now, I’m shocked that I didn’t know him.

Who’s next? The actress who played Miss Crabtree in the Little Rascals? The last living Munchkin for the Wizard of Oz?

Lord Bath? Any relation to the Earl of Sandwich?
