A day after he was abruptly fired by President Trump, outgoing Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson spoke on the phone with Senate Minority Chuck Schumer.
The New York Democrat said Saturday evening that he told the independent watchdog, whom defenders fear was removed to settle a score stemming from the impeachment saga, he will be remembered as a "hero."
"I spoke to Inspector General Michael Atkinson tonight, thanked him for his service, and told him that history will remember him as a hero and those who retaliated against him as scoundrels," Schumer tweeted.

Atkinson will be remembered as a “hero” in history books edited by the Left to disguise his true accomplishment. Singlehandedly, he thrust the country into a bogus impeachment proceeding all while the Wuhan virus was working its way into the USA. Atkinson’s contribution was to change the whistleblower rules to allow a known enemy of the President to “report” second hand information crafted by the Schiff team to constitute: bribery; extortion; abuse of power; obstruction of Congress, or some other focus-group tested wrong. To me, that is how Atkinson will be and should be remembered.
Too bad Chuckie’s ancestors didn’t attract a bullet during the Civil War.
