CCP Virus Infection in US Most Concentrated in Three NYC Suburbs, New Orleans

As the CPP virus swipes through the United States, much attention has been paid to the situation in large cities. That’s not, however, where the rate of infection has been the highest.

The epidemic has been the most concentrated in three suburbs around New York City as well as in New Orleans.

While New York City has the highest number of confirmed cases, over 57,000, when counted per capita, the worst hit is Rockland County, a neighboring suburb of some 325,000 on the west side of the Hudson River.

More than one in 67 Rockland residents has tested positive, a rate over twice as high as in New York City.

Westchester County, a large suburb across the river from Rockland, has about one in 74 residents confirmed infected, a total of more than 13,000 cases as of April 3, according to the state’s Department of Health.

New Orleans, the largest city in Louisiana with a population of nearly 400,000, is the third most affected area in the nation, with more than 1 in 100 testing positive.

According to my niece, who is a physician’s assistant working the front lines, all of the victims have red blood. Other than that, they tend to reflect the demographics of the neighborhood.

Both cities have very large ports with ships and dock workers from China. Virtually every country in the world with a port no matter how remote, has the virus. China spread the virus via ports and colleges.

Mardi Gras was a small cause of the virus in New Orleans. Tulane and LSU would have had more Chinese students from around the world and around the country. But New York’s Chinese New Year celebration was for sure a spreader of the virus. As is NYU Columbia and the New York transit system.

There is a subway in New Jersey. It’s called the PATH train. There are several lines. One starts at 33rd St in Manhattan and goes to Hoboken. Another starts at 33rd St and goes to Newark.

There is also a World Trade Center line that starts at where the World Trade Center stood and goes to Newark.

There are three stops in Jersey City and Hoboken that are underground. The trains go above ground at Journal Square on the west side of Jersey City.

There are many commuter trains from New York to New Jersey that are also probably carriers of the Wuhan virus. These go to all the fancier commuter bedroom communities.

Then there are lots of commuter bus lines from New Jersey into New York City. They are usually packed with people. Those buses stop at Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan.

Plus there is Amtrak that goes from New York to Newark on its way to Washington, D.C.

All these trains and buses carried the Wuhan virus into New Jersey with great efficiency.

So WTF is this going to be: Trump hates black people like Bush hated black people?

The infection rate in NYC suburbs is so high because of the mass transit system that liberals keep wanting every other city to spend billions of dollars to emulate. There is no more efficient means of spreading any airborne communicable disease than by packing most of the population into subways or light rail trains two times every day.

COVID road the METRO North and the LIRR infecting hundreds or even thousands.

I do not think they will lose sympathy. (my husband and I already figured out that most were black and wondered if there was something about the virus that hit them worse, not poverty exactly)

Our assistant pastor is black (not a citizen of the US), his father passed from Covid19 and lived in Queens (was a citizen), and also had preexisting health conditions. He was not, however, poor.

We assumed most of those ill in Detroit were black/African-American as we are from Michigan.

Besides the subway (actually the PATH which connects NYC to NJ), I think the huge Asian population in Bergen County plays a big role. The county added Korean to its official languages a couple of years ago; many Asians living along the NJ side of the Hudson River work in NYC. The George Washington Bridge connects Bergen County to NYC, but the trains don’t (you have to go further south into Hudson County NJ for that).

Bergen County is the epicenter of infection in NJ, and the hardest-hit towns seem to be along Route 80 (which ends at the GW bridge).

Its as if these politicians in these cities knew what was coming. They knew they were ill prepared, continued to encourage their citizens to ride the buses and trains, enjoy the festivals, take in a show, restaurants and friends. Would be able to advance the social justice agenda by opening up the jails and not arresting criminals for crimes committed. Use executive orders to enact their unpopular agendas

Yep - the two places that hosted/encouraged massive “celebrations” just happen to be the 2 hottest spots ... obviously Trump’s fault...
