Tucker Carlson Hits Fauci: Not an Economist, He’s Suggesting ‘National Suicide’ While He Has Job Security
Mediaite ^ | April 3rd, 2020 | Josh Feldman

Tucker Carlson wanted to make clear on his show Friday night he respects Dr. Anthony Fauci, considers him an “impressive person,” and said he’s clearly an important expert to have in combatting coronavirus — but he criticized Fauci anyway for comments he has publicly made about the public health response.

Fauci’s role on the coronavirus task force has received bipartisan praise, and Fauci himself recently appeared on Carlson’s show to talk about the positive impact of mitigation thus far.

“We’ve interviewed Dr. Fauci respectfully on this program, and we’d gladly do that again if he came back, and he will come back. He’s an impressive person. But that does not mean that he’s never wrong,” Carlson said. “On the question of this pandemic, Fauci has been wrong repeatedly.”

He brought up comments Fauci made in January remarking it’s “not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worrying about,” saying, “Chinese authorities were clearly panicked by what was happening, but Anthony Fauci was not.”

“We’re not attacking Tony Fauci for getting it wrong on coronavirus. Most people did get it wrong, in and out of medicine. It’s never easy predicting which faraway problems will become imminent crises here at home. Even the experts make big mistakes. They’re human beings. They make human mistakes. And that’s exactly the point that we ought to remember going forward,” Carlson said.

He’s particularly bothered by Fauci’s recommendation of a national quarantine, knocking such “extreme measures,” before bringing up the economic impact:

One of these two has the disctinct advantage of operating from hindsight. It’s the same reason that Monday morning quarterbacks are smarter.

Welcome to the party Tucker!! Here is what many have been saying in the weeks that he has been basking in his “gee I told you so” glory while mongering fear.

Fauci is a fraud. He is being torn apart more and more everyday by other experts and the conservative base is lining up against this loser. Rush, Hannity, Levin, Ingraham, are citing a host of economic and infectious disease experts as well as stat gurus who are questioning the current approach.

In January what was Dr. Career Bureaucrat saying?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/saraacarter.com/jan-flashback-dr-fauci-said-coronavirus-is-not-a-major-threat-to-the-people-of-the-united-states/amp/

In February?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/02/17/nih-disease-official-anthony-fauci-risk-of-coronavirus-in-u-s-is-minuscule-skip-mask-and-wash-hands/4787209002/

Then it was 2 to 3 million dead followed by an “oops my predictions were only as good as the models which weren’t so good. But let me forecast based on new models that it is 240-300,000 BUT DON’T HOLD ME TO THAT.”

Now today?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/04/03/us-coronavirus-projections-in-doubt-as-china-data-questioned/amp/

Step right up folks as Dr. Frauduci recommends a year long lockdown and recognizes the “inconvenience” as he continues to collect his $384,000/year government salary. You will be screwed, but don’t worry about him, he will be just fine.

Cures? Treatments? To hell with them says Dr. Geezer. LOCKDOWN!!! Onto CNN where he can get his jollies undermining Trump and anyone for that matter who dares to point out that this virus will seem like a joke when compared to the death and destruction that economic ruination will bring.

Dare to bring that up and it’s “wild or speculation.” But the models of viral doom that are proving wrong again and again and again? Those are sacrosanct.

Rush was right today. This isn’t a life v, economy argument. This is a life v. life argument.

My prediction based on the model of history, the fear of economic ruination will soon overrun the fear of this virus and Dr. Fauci is going to become public enemy number one. This is going to get ugly.

isolate the vulnerable and provide for their needs but don't ruin the lives of every non govt worker in the entire country...

would have been better to mandate face masks then to mandate ruination....

See, I hope they are considering other factors in making these decisions than just the infection and mortality projections of Covid-19.

Are they looking at similar projections for joblessness? Force readiness? Civil unrest and lawlessness? Degradation of the economy and of infrastructure? The availabilty of food, oil, gas, medicine, etc?

There comes a point, I think, that while you are saving lives from the virus, you are losing (or being injurious to) others due to the ever-lengthing disruptions in their’ lives and livelihood.

If you’re just focused on the virus, that is extremely short-sighted, IMO.

Oh, but instead we have allowed the media to deify an 80 year old guy, who was dead wrong about this, like many people.

I have faith in Trump to figure this out. He can’t fire Fauci but he can bring in additional experts and introduce them at the next press conference as being part of his expanded team. Let those voices counteract Fauci. He will tantrum and go to the media but in doing so will discredit himself and look like he is swimming upstream. The President will still be listening to the medical experts.

The media? Let their heads explode.

Or is it that Dr. Fauci is making decisions that will impact this country beyond this virus and is doing so without having a clue, telling everyone he does and then equivocating with a “but don’t hold me to that.”

He is a mess and an over the hill one at that.

Yup. But the media will assassinate him as a child molesting racist or something before they will let him become a voice in the administration. Nonetheless, bring him on board.

Trump listens to Rush and Levin and Hannity and will soon realize that riding the Fauci bus isn’t going to lead anywhere but to a farewell speech next January.

Don’t bet anymore money on this horse Mr. President. You can’t fire him, but you can work around him.

[[lockdowns could even decrease life expectancy.]]

Sure it will- it causes massive stress for people losing their jobs, their homes- their families as the stress increases etc- will drive soem to sui cide no doubt- peopel will turn to alcohol to drown their sorrows- even drugs no doubt-

The stress will likely cause heart attacks and strokes in some-

The funny part is, there will likelty be a baby boom durign all this stay at home nonsense- and babies will be born into a world with poorer peopel whop lost their jobs, had to take less pay jobs when they went back into workfield, so struggling parents will stress over raising kids with less money than they are used to-

people will have to learn to budget once again- that’ll stress them out more-

it’s a weird time in America - will we now go through this for every flue that comes along?Democrats right now are really pushing he boundaries of civil and constitutional rights- if they got majority power- look out whenever a ‘manufactured crisis’ crops up

Without an economy food doesn’t get peoduced or distributed. Without an economy vital public infrastructure crumbles.

I could go on and on. Just those two things could result in a disaster of Biblical proportions.

Massive, widespread food riots anyone? Electric grid crash, with no end in sight? Big cities hit hardest.

Then, it starts to get bad.

Tucker is an idiot. He doesn’t understand that there are a lot more people providing insight than Fauci - such as DTRA and a whole host of others. But then again - simpletons who have never worked on this stuff wouldn’t know that.

Fauci is one advisor to Trump. He’s one of 22 on the Covid-19 Task Force, only 3 which are MDs. He doesn’t even run that group much less the entire country, despite what half of FR apparently believes.

Trump is getting a wide range of advice and he’s ultimately the one making the big decisions.

No one has the luxury of knowing that this virus will do. They were certainly looking at how China was reacting in Wuxan since December. And they had the history of the other SARS virus in 2002 which killed over 8% of those infected. This Covid is another SARS virus and it’s 10 times more infectious than the last one. That’s among the few hard facts that they had to go on. And all of them said that this virus is a potential killer.

You should run for president. Your repeated posts on the subject have convinced me you are way smarter than our president and vice president and that can no longer be trusted to lead this nation through this fake crisis. They have been deceived by the deep state enemy and if they can be deceived by such a fool as Fauci - I can't trust them on ANYTHING. Thanks for pointing this out and showing me the light.

If it weren't for such brilliant people such as yourself, I would have trusted the President and the Vice President to make wise decisions - but not now. If a goof like Fauci can fool them - then there is certainly no hope for them at all. No wonder Hillary keeps giving him the slip.

“He doesn’t understand that there are a lot more people providing insight than Fauci - such as DTRA and a whole host of others.”

Exactly.

In tonight’s show Tucker managed to take mutually contradictory positions in the same hour.

In the first half he was talking as if the whole thing is wildly overblown by incompetent and oafish modellers. But by the 2nd half he was talking as if it’s a seriously dangerous disease. So which is it?

Trump’s biggest supporters are his biggest enemies and obstacles right now. The irony? They don’t even recognize that fact. They think they are supporting him by cutting him off at the knees with their posts.

It’s also pretty clear that big cities are much more vulnerable to uncontrollable outbreaks. The same policies should not be applied to rural areas that are applied to cities. Also, almost every major outbreak I’ve read about so far has been traced to a large gathering of people. You can ban large gatherings without closing down every place of business and employment. What’s the point of learning social distancing if we’re all supposed to stay at home anyway? It’s time to let the healthy people out and see if all the advice on 6-foot distancing, hand-washing, etc. actually works. So far I haven’t heard of one infection coming from a customer shopping at a store. It is either through prolonged conversation with one infected individual or being in a large sitting or standing crowd, not just walking past someone.
