President Donald Trump has fired the intelligence communitys chief watchdog, Michael Atkinson, who was the first to sound the alarm to Congress last September about an urgent complaint hed received from an intelligence official involving Trumps communications with Ukraines president.
Trump formally notified the Senate and House intelligence committees of his intention to fire Atkinson and remove him from his duties, to take effect 30 days from Friday, according to two congressional officials and a copy of the letter obtained by POLITICO dated April 3.
This is to advise that I am exercising my power as President to remove from office the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, effective 30 days from today, Trump wrote.
Trump said in the letter that he no longer has the fullest confidence in Atkinson. As is the case with regard to other positions where I, as president, have the power of appointment, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, it is vital that I have the fullest confidence in the appointees serving as Inspectors General, he wrote. That is no longer the case with regard to this Inspector General.
Trump added that he would be submitting a new nominee for the position to the Senate at a later date.

Why do these derp state derps keep trying to convince us that the intelligence agencies, DOJ, State Department etc are supposed to be 'independent'?
Oh wait. I know why. Never mind.
Yes, but should have happened a long time ago
Balderdash! This weasel transferred from DOJ just to help engineer this coup by anonymous witness disguised as 'impeachment'. I hope he - and Schiff - go to Leavenworth!
Schiff has done more to weaken the intel community than Vlad Putin could ever hope to do. Why is this incompetent liar/leaker wrecker still on the House Intel committee?
He even lies about the simple stuff, it was still daylight in his district.
But every time a piece of the swamp is pulled out, it lowers it another notch to expose even more. And those that know or think that they know that they are in the cross-hairs of this administration get jittery as to what Trump does know.
It is almost comical to watch. As more and more are fired, they have to wonder who is next. Trump is not doing it one office at a time, he appears to be hopscotching all over. This is adding to their terror since they don’t know what department Trump is going to hit next. They have no idea when and where he is going to strike.
Methinks that Trump is playing them and that some of them are starting to sing to CYOAF. But they risk being exposed if they chatter amongst themselves, and they risk becoming the fall guy if they aren’t chattering to stay connected within their Deep State group.
Yes it can.
Well observed. (When those cotton balls get rotten you can't pick very much cotton...)
I like it when Trump fires someone when they’re traveling at a high profile event. Not nice, I know. But I like it.
“how do you introduce evidence legally?”
bwahaha!!!! DJT’s team is brilliant.
A message for the She Rat & Schiff bag.
The Inspector General may be removed from office only by the President. The President shall communicate in writing to the congressional intelligence committees the reasons for the removal not later than 30 days prior to the effective date of such removal.50 USC 3033 - Inspector General of the Intelligence Community
Trump is alone and we never seem to send him a good Congress.
We need a good night of the long knives, figuratively of course.
Meadows is the new Chief of staff. He has many reasons to fire this Scumbag. Meadows helped save Trump’s A$$ and knows whats happening in the DS.
THIS IS THE BEST NEWS IN WEEKS.
THANK YOU, MR. PRESIDENT TRUMP. YOU ARE SOOOO COOL!
I WISH HE COULD FIRE MARK WARNER.
THERE IS A GOOD VET RUNNING AGAINST HIM FOR THE SENATE SEAT IN THE FALL.

In a statement, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, one of the Democrats’ leaders of the impeachment efffort, called the firing of Atkinson an act of “retribution” by President Trump.
Schiff called Friday’s action yet another blatant attempt by the President to gut the independence of the Intelligence Community and retaliate against those who dare to expose presidential wrongdoing,” according to Politico.
At a time when our country is dealing with a national emergency and needs people in the Intelligence Community to speak truth to power, the Presidents dead of night decision puts our country and national security at even greater risk, Schiff added.
Let’s keep a few thinks in mind re “sources”.
1. There is no physical proof (so far) that the “whistleblower” actual exists as one or several people. Produce the body for a congressional hearing and that issue is resolved, but not until then.
2. There is no proof, so far, that the Russians hacked the DNC’s computer system or leaked its contents to Julian Assange (until proven by documentation).
3. There is no “proof” that Rep. Adam (I’m batshit crazy) Schiff had “extensive proof” of Crimes by Trump. He couldn’t even prove one minor infraction and refused to provide “his” or his Committee’s evidence or so called evidence). Case dismissed.
4. There is no proof that the President of the US had a “quid pro quo” dominating pressure on the Ukrainian president to initial a probe of Burisma and the Bidens.
5. There is no proof of any “Russian Collusion” between Trump/campaign staff/White House staff and Putin’s Russia. Not even insane traitor CIA Brennan has provided any nor did the squish head of the DNI provide any, Clapper. The same with the slowly going crazy James Comey, FBI.
I would say that our Intelligence leaders under both Comrade Obama/regime and the early Not Cleaned Out Trump administration “swamp”, were incompetent at the least, and traitorous at the most, with a treasonous coup plotting clan that included many of these groups (CIA, DNI, DOJ, FBI, NSC, Dept. of State).
Atkinson was found “wanting” and I’m glad he’s gone. We cannot afford to have any “weak links”, squishes, or 2nd rate leaders concerning the security of our country, esp. in its intelligence and military organizations.
