She went in to retrieve a ball.
Dont disagree.
That’s what you have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever for.
With cold water, life jackets probably not much use, unless extremely lucky and found quick by someone.
What stupidity to allow a young kid in a Conor/kayak on the Cheasapeake this time of year.

It’s been reported they were chasing after a ball that went into the water. Just a tragic decision to chase after a ball that was probably worth $15. It’s been windy the past couple days and they didn’t have had the arm strength to canoe in those conditions.
So true. I feel worst for the little boy as children take cues from adults about what’s safe to do. May they both RIP.
My favorite hypothetical bill would be entitled the MaryJo Koepechne Memorial act and would simply overturn every passed bill whose lead sponsor was Teddy. it would take awhile to tally all the resulting good, but I doubt much bad would ever come from it.

He insisted on bringing Carolyn his wife to the wedding of his cousin Rory and they were to drop off his wife’s sister on the Vineyard then go on to Cape Cod. According to “The Kennedy Heirs” he was trying to repair the relationship with his wife.

When they were invited to the wedding of Johns cousin, Rory Kennedy, the youngest daughter of Bobby and Ethel Kennedy, in July 1999, Carolyn told John she did not want to go. But several days later, she changed her mind, knowing how much it meant to John. She invited her sister, Lauren, to come along on the flight.

And he was called the Lion of the Senate. Every time I heard that I wanted to hurl.
The best advice I can give from my years boating is before any trip always presume you will go overboard. Helps preparedness, situational awareness and behavior while on the water.
But your kid chasing his favorite ball into the water? That’s a tough one.
Read it was their oldest son, 8 years old
