They used N95 masks for another pandemic in 2014. 85 million of them. They made the decision not to restock. Things are ALWAYS more expensive and harder to get in an emergency. Planning is important. Cuomo decided to NOT buy respirators and use death panels instead. Was that in 2015? Ray Nagin had an emergency evac plan for Hurricane Katrina, and delayed the implementation until the busses were underwater, and the drivers at their own safe places. Those things need managers, not spineless politicians.

The packaging for the 3M masks that I have on hand say they are made in the USA from “globally sourced” materials.
3M knew full well what was going on through their supply chains. Could and should have stopped it themselves, or via the government.
And it isn’t a matter of them buying right then, but that the foreign companies were paying cash. Yes, you could look to the state and hospital purchasing moving to cash, but that would be a big, big move.
3M is indeed responsible.
Look at the CEO’s interview with Maria B. He uses all kinds of weasel words talking about making sure they are getting the masks to where they are needed—but never says in the US.

Back in the early 1990's I was told by an insider from the Mpls/StP metroplex that 3M corporate and its board were not just bad but evil. They were muscling all the elected officials and city bureaucrats to comform to PC from unlimited third-world immigration to promoting the LGBTQ (though the term was not the same) agenda. They also reshaped the public school systems with activist board members, etc.
The leftward-drifting colleges and mainstream churches were in on it too, but the fact was that nobody "important" in the twin cities so much as farted without the brave new 3M giving them permission. It broke his heart to say this about 3M, because his family had been part of it back in the days before the left co-opted them.
