There is a growing realization in the Hindu American community that Democrats, who present themselves as warriors for social justice, do not believe in justice for Hindus. They are even willing to whitewash crimes against Hindus in order to appeal to Muslim voters. These concerns have grown sharply over the last few months.
Central to the issue are reactions to the policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is portrayed on the Left as being the Trump of India and disparagingly referred to as a Hindu nationalist. Modi is held in high esteem by many American Hindus. Various Modi policies have been condemned by Democrats but praised by Hindus who see them as addressing historic wrongs against their community.

I am aware of several Hindus (one of whom recently became an American citizen)and in passing, they have mentioned how much they like Modi.
One of them (a woman) actually jumped up a little and smiled when I mentioned to her that I saw he was elected PM. I hate to stereotype but Hindus are not normally known for expressions of emotion on much of anything. Modi’s election must have been a big deal.
The author of the article is being somewhat duplicitous in his writing. For instance: who is portrayed on the Left as being the Trump of India and disparagingly referred to as a Hindu nationalist.
Modi is portrayed that way because he is that way! The political party which he heads, the BJP, stands for Hindu Nationalist Party. I guess that one could hope that the Left in the USA "respectfully referred to him as a Hindu Nationalist" instead of "disparagingly referring to him as a Hindu Nationalist", but that's asking for too much, really.
The American Left defines itself as Anti-Nationalist as much as any other characteristic at this point.
Basically the author clearly wants to vote Democrat, he's a natural Democrat but the horrible speech and and attitude of the actual Democrats is making it hard for him.
The article is a cry in the dark for the Democrats to please start being more solicitous towards Hindus.
The year when a majority of Hindu-Americans will support a true American Nationalist like Trump in a general election is, approximatley, NEVER. Just like: Jewish Americans, Mexican Americans, Latino Americans, Chinese Americans, Japanese Americans, Filipino Americans, African-Americans, etc etc.
As someone smarter than me schooled me on Free Republic 20 years ago: "The original American project has always been the work of the White Protestant founding stock. Very few immigrants have ever joined in supporting it."
If you study the 2016 Presidential election results you can see this. It does look like the non-Latino White Catholic population (what old time political reporters like Chris Matthews call "the ethnic vote") did become majority GOP voters for the first time in 2016. So, most of the Irish and Italians arrived in the 19th century. It's taken >100 years to turn them conservative.
We don't have that much time to wait for the Hindus to figure it out. Sadly,
Demographics is destiny, and soon the Right will never win another election, so many Leftist minorities have been allowed into the USA.
Guys like Karl Rove who obsessed over Latino's being "natural conservatives" are fooling themselves. It didn't happen for Bush, and it won't happen for any future GOPers either.

With the administrations strong support for H-1Bs it’s not surprising.
Let’s see. Democrats kicked white “cis” men to the curb. They told pro-life people to get lost. They boo’d God. They made fun of people in flyover country. I don’t think they care about Hindus. Actually, I think they only care about themselves.
It reminds me a New Yorker cartoon. A man in a smoking jacket is on the phone. He is surrounded with dozens of political posters saying to vote for him. He says to guy over the phone, “What do you mean I only got ONE vote?”

I am sorry to hear that you lost your mind. I don’t know quite what you mean, unless it’s that this virus hasn’t magically gone away.
I am not a socialist. I was not raised one. I do think that the Hindu and Jewish cultures ARE socialist, however, and it is fantasy to believe that you will ever pull more than a small, dissatisfied minority away from the Democrats at the voting booth.
Democrats should be losing support among America’s everything.
But what attracts Hindu voters to the Democrats? Socialism?
Conservatives do a poor job of messaging. More people would embrace conservatism if they knew what it is, and how conservative principles work for them.
Unfortunately, Republicans are often mistaken for conservatives, and their principles are indistinguishable from those of the Democrats except with more corporatism.
A few Hindus I know are far from socialists. Quite the opposite in fact. The main reason so many in the immigrant community, Hindus included, tilt toward Democrats is the constant media drumbeat and pushing of the narrative: Republican = racist/ party of whites/party of hate, Democrat = party of love, party of all. It's repeated so often that people just assume it to be true.
There is a site on You Tube called “Asian Boss’. There’s a video where the reporter is asking Indians, of all classes, what they think of America. Everyone of them said America and Americans are racists and America is a racist country but they all want to come here. When asked why would they want to go to America if it’s a racist country they said “For a better life’’. Infuriating if you ask me.
Perhaps in some political fantasy world.

2012 - Asian Indian Americans voted 80% to reelect Barack Obama
2016 - Asian Indian Americans voted 77% to elect Hillary Clinton
2018 - 40% of my Congressional District is foreign born - not all of them citizens, obviously, but a high percentage are Asian Indian engineers and their families. My Hard Left Democrat Congressman was reelected with 70% of the vote. His opponent? A gentleman from the Socialist Party, who got 30% of the vote!
2018 - A Socialist Party Asian Indian American female was reelected to the King County (Seattle) Commission. Her opponent? A Hard Left white Democrat male.
We need a complete moratorium on more Leftist Hindus entering America.
Because the entire H1-B program was a fraud perpetrated on the American people by liars in business and politics, a true accounting will require most Hindus in America to be stripped of their citizenship and sent back to India.
Or, as a once-great politician put it:
"They are all going to have to go home."
