The antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine has shown promise in treating the coronavirus helping to speed up the recovery of a small number of patients suffering a mild form of the illness, according to a report.
In a study published online this week, Chinese researchers found that patients who were administered the drug saw their cough, fever and pneumonia go away faster than in a group that did not receive it, according to the New York Times.
The illness also appeared less likely to become severe among those who were treated with hydroxychloroquine, according to the small study posted on the preprint server medRxiv before undergoing peer review.

conservative newspapers and conservatives voices liek on fox need to be blarign these headlines:
.
“Death toll rising rapidly in NY due to Cuomo’s refusal to give life saving drugs to patients. Other States run by democrats also refuse to allow life saving drugs as people die struggling for breath daily”
.
Blast these headlines every day- people should be outraged that you can only get the life saving drugs IF you belong to a trial in NY, and only 1000 people can get it there!
.
Keep blasting these headlines until the people in those liberal states start getting angry enough to protest- Withholding what is for right now at least, our best chance at survival is outrageous- immoral- at best, criminal at worst!
RE: Death toll rising rapidly in NY due to Cuomos refusal to give life saving drugs to patients
Nobody in NY is stopping doctors from prescribing HCQ+Azithromicyn OFF LABEL to patients.
Dr. Vladimir Zelenko from upstate, NY has been doing this for weeks now.
This is great but until someone who is not in any way connected to the Trump orbit announces this, the MSM will ignore it.
Hospital staff are getting it if they test positive and even as a preventive. And I am certain that Ciomo’s brother Fredo is currently on it. He gave it away last night when he talked about Covid giving him hallucinations and dreams. That’s not Covid. That’s HCQ. Many who have taken it as a prophylaxis when visiting Africa, as my cousins did several years ago talked of the weird dreams and hallucinations.
T his is great but until someone who is not in any way connected to the Trump orbit announces this, the MSM will ignore it.
Actually, NY Times had a short article on it yesterday. Laura Ingraham notes this on her show last night
Interesting
Thanks, I saw that.
More anecdotal stories. I wonder at what point it ceases to be anecdotal if ever.
Physician friend of mine tells me he’s had good results with it.
btt
only select doctors are doing htis- those who are bucking cuomo’s executive order- most doctors will likely be afraid of prosecution- and good luck getting it out in the sticks-
From Cuomos EO:
No pharmacist shall dispense hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine except when written as prescribed for an FDA-approved indication; or as part of a state approved clinical trial related to COVID-19 for a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, with such test result documented as part of the prescription. No other experimental or prophylactic use shall be permitted, and any permitted prescription is limited to one fourteen day prescription with no refills.
This was posted on FR a couple of days ago. NOT Chinese study.
It is from a Jewish Medical Doctor near NYC. He has it nailed.

“Nobody in NY is stopping doctors from prescribing HCQ+Azithromicyn OFF LABEL to patients.”
You have a time frame problem with you post. The doctor could do it for awhile until Coumo issued an EO that forbid it under the grounds that the doctor was using it. Coumo made sure that it could not be used under the experimental guidelines.
What is not clear is if it can now be used in NY(other than trials) after the FDA approved its use for this virus. And even if NY will allow it then it is unclear if can only be used after someone is critically ill(To late to prevent permanent damage).
No one in the media has forced an answer to the questions.

...then why are they dying?
RE: Then why are they dying?
Let’s have a look at Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order:
From Cuomos EO:
No pharmacist shall dispense hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine except when written as prescribed for an FDA-approved indication; or as part of a state approved clinical trial related to COVID-19 for a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, with such test result documented as part of the prescription. No other experimental or prophylactic use shall be permitted, and any permitted prescription is limited to one fourteen day prescription with no refills.
With the above EO, only the doctors who are brave enough to defy an EO will use the HCQ+Azithromycin combo. The rest will stick to conventional therapy to avoid getting into trouble.
Very nice, but what about their viral loads? What did their tests show?
However, the study did not include data on severely ill patients.
Maybe because there were no severely ill patients among those who received the HCQ tx early enough.
