I’m glad to see they will be kept busy rather than trying to take advantage of everyone else whom they created the mess for.

I doubt they ever had it under control at all.

I guess now we’ll just have to watch for the emission plumes from the crematoriums to get a true sense of what’s really going on over there.

Whenever this thing is over, or at least manageable enough to return to normalcy, we must not only hold China accountable for all of the damage they have caused, but we also have to get to the bottom of this virus’s origin. I don’t believe that it was just a natural event. Too many coincidences, especially the proximity of the bio lab to the wet market. My guess is that this was a weapon, or at least a virus being manipulated and evaluated as a possible weapon, that escaped the lab.

The magnitude of what the rest of the world will do to China should match the magnitude of the damage they have caused to the world. And yeah, I fully expect that the only country willing to do anything substantive will be the U.S., and only because of Trump.

If I were king for a day, I would issue an ultimatum to the Chicom government: Either permit outside inspectors to examine the weapons lab, and to ever after monitor its activities, as well as closing all wet markets, OR face a shutdown of all travel from China, formal recognition of Taipei as the capital of China, and suspension of all agricultural products to mainland China. Should they choose the latter, I would make lifting of those measures dependent solely upon the willingness of the current government to step down and install a democratic government in its place.

Of course, all of that is “unthinkable”, but this current crisis was unthinkable, too. And if we don’t take DRASTIC action against China it will happen again, with a possibly far more virulent pathogen next time. As we can see from the economic destruction this time around, we absolutely cannot permit this to happen again. We wouldn’t survive another round of this. So what to do?

Any of my suggested measures above would likely lead to war with China, but what do we think would happen if China inflicted something like this on the world again? There would be nothing left to lose at that point, and presuming the Chicoms remained as intransigent as they are today (a certainty), the only choice left would be to threaten them with destruction (or actually destroy them). I could see a scenario if this keeps happening where we would be left with no choice but to immediately destroy any Chinese city where an outbreak was beginning.

I know, “unthinkable.”

The Chinese government always lies. They never had it under control. Their game plan was to make it look like they defeated it claiming they had no new cases and by going back to work and then claiming they got reinfected by outsiders coming to China so they could blame the rest of the globe for the crisis going forward. I hope their economy implodes and they go back to being an agrarian closed society
