Grocery retailer Kroger announced that it would be giving its employees a “hero bonus” for hours worked between Sunday and April 18.

The bonus is an added $2 per hour on top of the employees’ base rate of pay, WMAZ reported.

The announcement follows the grocery store chain’s previous statement that it would give employees a one-time appreciation bonus, giving full-time workers $300 and part-time workers $150, to be paid out on Thursday.

I see a lot of older workers at my local Kroger store. Many are probably nervous about catching the virus.

Yes, they are heroes.

I can tell you that I would not be able to do what they are doing. My fear would stop me.

These people are greater than me.

They deserve hero pay.

My young daughter works at a box store. She said the older folks are still working. The young ones (not her) aren’t. They are getting “sick pay” to stay home!

She got a $2 raise, works overtime every day at double pay! (It used to be just straight pay). Her boss even waived the “no more than ten hours a week OT” rule for her.

I’m about to give their online delivery app a try. Meijers absolutely refuses to run on an android device and I’ve got 4 missing hours of my life to prove it.

They need to wear masks and protective gloves if they aren’t already.

Over here in Los Angeles I’ve been going mostly to the Korean market. So much more organized. All the in demand products in bulk stacked in front of the store with employees carrying off the shelf for you..all the cashiers in protective gear..etc...

The bar for herohood has dropped way low in this pussified culture that we now live in.

Showing up for work does not make you Batman.

Grocery stores need to protect their workers AND the public. Employees should be allowed to wear masks - and every customer entering the store should have their temp taken.

Mail needs to be run through UV machines too...

If the food chain breaks people in this country we’ll starve... many will die. Yeah these people go to their jobs and keep the machine running and their companies aren’t protecting them, Yes, they are heroes.

Mail needs to be UV ed to protect poster workers too...

Police and firemen need protective gear...

And banks need to run all bills through UV too... Build the system into ATM machines. I don’t think this will be the only bio-weapon ‘accidentally’ released.

All but that last part.

Nope. And don't forget the nuclear option. The derps still got tricks up their sleeves. They ain't going down without a fight, the bastards.

I imagine if you work in any aspect of retail you are nervous about catching it.

Gotta keep the doors open though. Good move by Kroger.

There is a company here in Pittsburgh that makes robots which Walmart uses to take shelf counts. I imagine they could be easily retrofitted to bathe the shelves in UV.
