Sean looks a lot like his dad. Like they could be siblings.

And he’s Asian, half.
Super liberal icon. They’ll write him off.

Glad to see hes come down on the right side on this. Sounds level headed here. Let's not get too excited here. Lennon's altruism here comes from his strong free-Tibet activism. He's no fan of China for sure, but he's very much a lefty.

Very good song. I first heard it in October 1984 while driving up I-5 through the LA area. I first thought it was a newly found John Lennon track but then the DJ said it was his son Julian.
Julian had a follow-up hit called Too Late For Goodbyes and then faded away.
A shame because I thought he'd have a lot more great songs in him.

-—His father also had some wacky political opinions, but every so often, hed come out with something so clearheaded and blunt that it shocked the hippies. Recall how he told Chairman Mao and all the deluded commies to shove it in Revolution.——
You nailed it. He obviously hated Britain’s high taxes, too.
Rumor has it he and Reagan were pretty chummy and really hit it off when they crossed paths during the ‘80 campaign. My own hunch is that had Lennon lived, he would have become less politically left and more eclectic in his old age. Who knows, it’s just a hunch.
He said privately that “Imagine” was “just a song” and it shouldn’t be over-analyzed and turned into some kind of deep anthem. Of course after he died, that’s exactly what happened.

Actually they crossed paths during a Monday Night Football game, Reagan spent a few minutes explaining the rules of American Football to John.

Maybe Yoko will bump him off, like she had John bumped off.

Sean speaks, but it’s Yoko doing the talking.
She’s from a high society Japanese family line.
Similar set up as with Ronan Farrow yapping about child abuse. It’s really Mama Mia spreading her own biased opinion.

Right! Reagan could charm anyone, but John Lennon was more complicated than people give him credit for.
He kinda knew he could be a jerk and a belligerent sh*t, and wasn’t proud of it or anything. My own view is I don’t think he had the same opinions about a lot of things in, say, 1979 as he did in 1969.

I’ve always believed his father would have eventually called bs on the entire left wing platform. At least I hoped so.

Ive always believed his father would have eventually called bs on the entire left wing platform. At least I hoped so. And Yoko couldn't have that, plus she was still mad at John for the affair he had a few years earlier.

🎶if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao, ya ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow"🎶 Quite a few hippies were disappointed with that lyric.
