”Many of the businesses that closed their doors will reopen.
I believe many is being rather too optimistic”
The recovery will be capitalism 1001. Once economy activity resumes any business that doesn’t return to the market place that was successful and provides a service in demand will leave a void that will almost immediately be filled by another business with the capital to enter that market share. Yes a lot of smaller companies will be wiped out but it will be a HUGE opportunity for new companies to come and take that spot in the marketplace. Lots of new businesses will start and boom and a whole new group of newly affluent people will be created. This is going to end up being the passing of the torch as this bug kills boomers and late Gen Xrs it’s opening opportunity for millennial and early Xrs to get into a market they were previously not able to enter. A lot of the capital that has stagnated in the older generation is about to be inherited by the surviving generations and those are the innovators who will fund the replacements and those who are holding capital right now just waiting to spring into the marketplace when the dust clears. Exciting times ahead for the survivors for sure. POTUS is right we will see a boom after this just like the roaring 20s a hundred years ago. Ask yourself why did the roaring twenties happen in the first place one of the answers is Spanish flu of 1918.
There's no doubt that cooking skills and basic gardening can be beneficial, but your suggestion is of the "abnormal" mindset.
We are an advanced society both technologically and economically. We should have choices, and that includes NOT having to grow or hunt for our food, nor having to cook it.
Applying that mindset after 9/11, one might've suggested that, "Taking a bus cross-country makes one appreciate the scenery..."
Same here...being alone with myself is a peaceful thing...

Interesting viewpoint.
I have a Zoom meeting this evening with a professional networking group. We are calling it a Happy Hour.
We are looking at the SBA Loan programs to survive this event.
But we are also having a few speakers who are pivoting into the technology of working from home, capitalizing on virtual teaching and training, and how to use it to reach-out locally and globally.
What makes this Zoom meeting so unique is this is a group of small pet sitting and dog walking companies that have always thought locally. We looking at how to become “influencers” and personal branding across social media. Before one laughs too hard, pet care accounts for nearly $3 billion dollars are year in this country. Yes, with a B!
On April 19th I will be doing a Clicker, Cues and Cat Training seminar in Dublin, Ireland from the comfort of my own home in Ohio as a paid presenter. 3 weeks ago I never imagined I could have a global audience.
I am watching business plans be retooled, marketing plans and content strategy change...it really is an exciting time. I am feeling like I am watching the caterpillar changing into the butterfly.
To business owners who are not forward thinking and leaning into this crisis they will be left behind.
Put me on the Ohio Ping list. Thanks!
