US and China set aside coronavirus differences and pledge to work together

As the coronavirus death toll surges in the United States, Chinese and US health officials have pledged to work together to combat the pandemic, in their first telephone exchange in two months.

According to China’s National Health Commission website, the phone call between its minister Ma Xiaowei and US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar took place on Monday night and included an assurance from Ma that China was willing to work with the US in managing the outbreak.

It was the first move towards medical cooperation between the two countries after last week’s phone call between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his US counterpart Donald Trump, when both leaders agreed they must work together to contain the spread of the virus.

Ma said the situation in China was continuing to improve, with the country’s health service returning to normal operations. He also said the two countries had maintained their long-standing cooperation and that China was willing to work with the US in sharing information, experience and technology in fighting the outbreak.

“China is willing to work with the international community, including the US, with an open, transparent and responsible attitude,” he said.

Azar was quoted on the website praising China’s efforts and progress in fighting the disease, and saying that the US hoped to strengthen cooperation with China.

China is perhaps the most untrustworthy nation on earth (well, maybe second, just behind Iran; then comes Russia).

Only the hopelessly politically correct believe any data, statistics or promises coming out of official Communist China. Political correctness is a perpetual state of self delusion.

Or at least Trump is saying that in his capacity as the nation’s top diplomat.

When this is over I suspect the reality will be somewhat different.

Chinese are sensitive about the subject...

讓中國再次偉大 (Make China Great Again)

China must show the world, and their own people, the truth, all of it, and maybe regain some degree of trust, stop treating their own people as enslaved chattel

Otherwise, FOAD, I don't trust a word coming out of that regime

using propaganda just makes things worse...
but the blinders are off now... Game on from here

the ChinaBots are out in full force. The enemy in our midst
New drinking game, count the bots, call them out wherever you see them on the webs
Do not let their lies go unchallenged
The Art of War can take on many forms...

Yeah. Iran is completely untrustworthy, but we have long since reached a point with them where we don’t even put ourselves in any position where trust is either a prerequisite or expected.

Maybe...just maybe we can reach that point with China. I think we need to.

Beware of Greeks, er, Chinese bearing gifts.

The Chinese do NOTHING without some ulterior motive benefiting themselves to a much greater degree than may be conferred upon those who choose to collaborate on anything.
