Even rural communities can check on family and friends by a neat gadget called a phone.

But they cannot go to the grocery store by that neat gadget to get supplies. In rural areas, such helpful services as Instacart is not generally available, either. They’ve got to travel, often many miles. This study uses distance traveled as a primary criteria to measure compliance with “shelter-in-place” and if a person travels at all, that’s “non-compliance.” The greater the distance a given population group, the greater the non-compliance, the lower the grade.

“but several counties - all in rural areas with few reported cases - have actually logged an increase in distance traveled”

Because farming, you press morons. This same type of article is being blasted all over all the states to make urban dopes that don’t know where food comes from feel superior to those whose jobs in agriculture are actually essential.

The Sacramento and Fresno Bee take on this was that counties that had voted for Trump were the least likely to be cooperating with social distancing and staying home.
