Director of Public Safety Barbara Jones has been coordinating the citys response to the pandemic. She said Southwest General Health Center has instituted a no-transport order for certain types of conditions.
"There will be some situations where someone calls for a squad (i.e. ambulance) and the squad will be told by the (Southwest) emergency room not to take the person to the ER," she explained. "It's only under limited circumstances. People with minor respiratory issues will be given a handout from the hospital
telling them what to do and how to address their problem."

Have you seen Ohio’s budget? That going away prezzie Kasich left the state, his budget-busting Medicaid expansion, has guaranteed things like this. There’s no money for more manpower.
Democratic strong holds and their appointed cronies have been stealing for decades and not replenishing stock piles of necessary items needed for such a disaster. Now they are caught with their a##es in a bear trap and the are trying to convince everyone that its trumps fault
literal no transport order...
The hospital in question doesn’t have 1 single case of covid!
My question isn’t the call being made, I agree with this one, it’s how it’s being made. Is there a doc involved, or just dispatch? The refusal to transport also might be due to EMTALA. If you’re not familiar with it, google it. It prohibits turning away people who show up at an ER. If ambulances never deliver them, no violation.
The reason why they are not taking them to the ER is that hospitals are setting up alternative hospital tents so that possible COVID19 patients can be screened and treated separately from the main hospital. It’s part of the CDC directive that is being implemented throughout the country. It is a very wise precaution as it is impossible to keep the virus spreading within the hospital otherwise because there isn’t enough PPE or ER rooms where the air is circulated separately.
