Macomb County patient was recently given a drug typically used for malaria that is showing positive results for beating COVID-19.
Jim Santilli said it helped him and he believes it could help others, too.
"I was struggling to breathe. I felt like I was slowly drowning and I was sitting there thinking I'm not going to make it until midnight," he said.
Santilli says the experimental drugs Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin brought him back from the brink. The 38-year old was prescribed the drugs a little more than a week ago at Henry Ford Macomb where he was hospitalized for COVID-19.
He says a doctor told him they'd exhausted treatment options. An infectious disease physician recommended he try both.

Which (had, at least) been forbidding this treatment, I believe.
Noting this, for all.
Quick witless...arrest the doctors...
Michigan’s governor wants to throw his doctors in jail, and maybe him too.
Whitless needs to be waterboarded.
Daily.
anecdotal
He was given this drug BEFORE the governor demanded it not be used by ANY doctors!!
Ssshhh.
Dont tell the governor.
Trump’s fault!
If given the choice between the patient dying without even trying this treatment or admitting that Trump might have been right about something, the governor and her ilk would gladly take the former. It’s truly sick.
Oh, got it.
Thanks.
Apparently, the left is in full assault mode on this:

MARCH 30, 2020 By Chrissy Clark
Twitter removed a tweet from Fox New host Laura Ingraham that suggested hospitals using hydroxychloroquine as treatment for the Wuhan coronavirus are showing promising results, despite the FDAs approval of the drug for emergency use.

MD’s should ignore this immoral and unethical order and practice their craft.
If they should lose their license they can appeal and probably have it restored.
If not, there’s an MD shortage in this country and they’d be more than welcome anywhere. Except for maybe Nazivada.
What I’d like to know is if now he has immunity to C19.
From what I understand the thing that kills most people is the cytokine storm caused by an overreaction of the immune system to the virus. In other words the immune system not only destroys the virus but normal cells as well.
Hydroxychloroquine calms down the immune response and the cytokine storm allowing the patient to survive. Given that the patient has been infected and his immune system “sensitized” to the virus, does he now have immunity?
I believe so.
But I am not a doctor. :)
She doesn’t have a choice anymore since the FDA approved it.

Playing russian roulette one time kills the player between 16 and 17% of the time if using a colt 45 revolver. Doing so with a pistol has a substantially lower survival rate.
Also anecdotal. How big a double blind study do you think we need to prove this? Would you participate?
The leading theory as to how HCQ works is it opens an ionic pathway through the cell membrane allowing zinc to get in and gunk up viral replication in infected cells. The anti-inflammatory effects in reducing cytokine storm intensity seems secondary. I have seen reports that AZ has some minor antiviral effects so it could be a synergistic effect or it just prevents secondary opportunistic infections from taking hold or both.
I ran across a small study on zinc and crossing cell membranes. Most OTC zinc does not get into cells in any appreciable amount. It gets into blood serum but does not pass through the cell membrane and gets filtered by the kidneys and flushes down the toilet. Zinc picolinate does seem to cross the membranes to some degree. In the study it was getting into both red blood cells and into hair shafts (3 types of cells divide very rapidly and keratonize and die pushing out as hair). If it gets in in the form that gunks up viral replication I have no idea, but I am taking it hoping for some prophylactic effects. Zinc in the cell seems to be the magic bullet for COV19.
Just google Zinc picolinate and NIH and the study pops up close to the top.
This article is pure journalism malpractice. The REAL story is that a man’s life was saved by a drug that the state’s governor just outlawed. To have a story about the man without the background about the irrational partisan governor, makes the story completely fake news. Fake news is not only what is said, but also what is not said.
...so F.U., Governor Whitmer!
(I used to live in the area so I know that is what came next)
Just so you realize, i was being tongue in cheek with my original comment,,, freep on...
