COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) – South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order on Monday that closes all public access points to the state’s beaches.

The executive order also closes all public boat ramps, landings and other access points on the state’s lakes, rivers and waterways.

“As a result of behavior observed this past weekend by the Department of Natural Resources and SLED, it has become necessary to close public access to our state’s beaches, and to close boat ramps and landings on our state’s lakes, rivers and waterways,”McMaster said.

“This is unfortunate for those who chose to responsibly follow the instructions of our public health officials, but it is a necessary action to prevent the spread of this dangerous virus.”

That is, of course, Florida. It even says so in the caption you posted.

Florida is not South Carolina.

Also, one doesn’t have to be a nurse, massage therapist, lifeguard or bar bouncer to detect that these people are not 6 ft apart.

The Grand Strand, as it’s known, is anywhere from 60 to 80 miles long - hence the term Long Bay. Depending on the tides the beach is a fairly reliable average width of 100 ft.

Math is hard, but
80 mi = 422,400 ft
422,400 ft x 100 ft width of beach = 42,240,000 sq ft
42,240,000 / 6 sq ft = 1,173,333 places for individuals with adequate safety margins.

Over One Million. In other words, a damn sight more than 286,000.

The real numbers, of course, are nothing like that given the lack of tourist traffic and the tendency of locals to ignore the beach most of the time anyway. The figure is under 100,000 - probably under 50,000 or even much less than that.

Please decide if you wish to posit an emotional argument or a logical one and let us know.

You don’t have the right mindset to be a nurse. You’re very angry at people in general it seems. Time to quit.

How close are they? How many people are there in total?

Are they related? If so, they’re living together indoors already.

That was the vacationers last hurrah before told to leave!

Don’t punish the much fewer locals!

You don’t have the right mindset to be a nurse. You’re very angry at people in general it seems. Time to quit.

A review of your posts reveals your MO (modus operandi) is to threaten and to attack people. Your anger toward others and situations is palpable in each and every one of your posts. If you want to see real anger, look in the mirror, bubba.

Meanwhile, my friends and colleagues are putting their lives in danger every day, getting sick and dying, to provide medical treatment to pinheads and vulnerable people who were infected by pinheads during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Bicyclists ride in the street, and must observe traffic laws. Riding on sidewalks is illegal.

Riding bikes on the streets in Florida is very dangerous. Too many white hairs with vision problems and slow reflexes. Young people are buried in their text messages while driving.

Your rhetorical style is good for laugh - but that’s about it.

You dodge questions, you won’t respond to logical arguments, you rely on the posts of others, you resort to cliches.

I’m asking the same questions of you that I’m asking of all the panic merchants including governors who are currently addicted to the opioid of media adulation for ‘doing something’ even when that something can’t be proven to have any net effect.

If you have one, just one, example of ‘I went to the beach and got coronavirus’ I’ll reconsider my position. In the meantime I will, as usual, place insults on a par with a lack of coherent thought and argument.

Texting drivers make it dangerous to be in a store near the glass wall that looks out on the parking lot.

Three generalizations.

Beyond that, what on earth does any of it have to do with the subject at hand?

Some years ago, a 102yo drove through the window into a hair salon. His license had just been renewed for 6 years. He needed his drivers license to drive his 82yo son to his doctor appointments. Florida...
