COLUMBIA, S.C. (WMBF) – South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order on Monday that closes all public access points to the state’s beaches.

The executive order also closes all public boat ramps, landings and other access points on the state’s lakes, rivers and waterways.

“As a result of behavior observed this past weekend by the Department of Natural Resources and SLED, it has become necessary to close public access to our state’s beaches, and to close boat ramps and landings on our state’s lakes, rivers and waterways,”McMaster said.

“This is unfortunate for those who chose to responsibly follow the instructions of our public health officials, but it is a necessary action to prevent the spread of this dangerous virus.”

What happened?

If people went to the beach and carried their lunch and cold drinks in their picnic bags and then went home taking their trash with them, I can not see how that hurt anyone.

On the other hand, if 1,000 of them were trying to get into MacDonald’s at the same time, breathing and coughing in each others’ face..... not acceptable.

Even so, it seems like a better solution would have been to limit the service at food servers to drive-in windows or some other form of curb service....outside tables or whatever.

The beach, sun and fresh air is the best place to be.

While you are bitching about beach access, my friends and colleagues are risking their lives, getting sick and dying because they are providing medical treatment to ignorant pinheads and vulnerable people who were infected by ignorant pinheads.

This is nothing but dictatorial control.

This is too keep tourists away. Property owners on the beach or the lakes are not restricted.

Nope. We have no statewide “orders” to stay in place, only advisories. Restaurants only serving “to go”. Non essential government workers working from home. No visitors allowed in nursing homes or prisons. There are some local government shelter in place orders, Charleston and Columbia are two I am aware of.

“ In recent days, lawmakers citing the coronavirus threat have called upon Gov. Henry McMaster to issue even more strict emergency orders restricting movement across the state. So far, McMaster has taken steps such as closing schools, limiting public gatherings to two people or fewer and stressing in regular press conferences that people should stay at least six feet from each other.

But McMaster has resisted calls to impose the kind of restrictions that both Charleston and Columbia have put in place.”

Your friends are in my prayers several times a day, so please don’t get on me.

I could walk the beach, 60 miles of it... and not be within 100’ or more of anyone.

So if I do that, how am I an ignorant pinhead?

Because 286,000 of your closest family, friends, neighbors and their kin, friends, and neighbors want to do the same thing at the same place, at the same time. Now the beach is crowded.

I am curious.

Have you ever been to a SC beach this time of year?

If so, which one?

https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2020/03/monday-march-30-latest-developments-on-coronavirus-in-michigan.html

184 deaths statewide so far. Michigan has cancelled the June auto show (VERY large event in Michigan) as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be using the TCF show hall as an alternate care center for the CV-19 outbreak.

I’m a long time Freeper, you people need to take this seriously at the rate this is increasing and will spread.
