Arizona Governor issues stay at home order
Governor Doug Ducey (R-Arizona) issued a statewide stay at home order Monday afternoon.
The order takes effect Tuesday at the close of business. It instructs all Arizona residents to remain in their homes, except for essential needs, to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Under the order the following activities are defined as "essential":
Employment, or to volunteer or participate in essential functions Employment if, as a sole proprietor or family owned business, work is conducted in a separate office space from your home, and the business is not open to serve the public To utilize any services or products provided by essential business services Ducey says he made the decision to call for the shutdown after receiving new guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It also comes at the recommendation of public health officials.
Our order takes a uniquely Arizona approach, Ducey said during a press conference. Its a whole, holistic approach that prioritizes all of public health, placing a focus on staying home to slow the spread, staying healthy and active, and staying connected to provide the much needed support we can provide one another in these unprecedented times.
On Monday the governor received a letter from the mayors of seven of Arizona's largest cities calling on him to impose a statewide shutdown. He also received similar letters from faith-based groups, and professional medical organizations.
Governors from 28 states have already issued stay at home orders.
Arizona currently has 1,157 cases of coronavirus. The virus has killed 20 Arizonans. Most of the cases are concentrated in major metropolitan areas.
I pray they close the golf courses; a lot of older people are not taking this seriously and continue going to play without a thought in the world that it could be putting them at risk of serious illness.
Does that men people can’t take a walk outdoors as long as they maintain distance from others?
Our course in North Idaho opened a week ago with “COVID-19” rules — everything you can touch is put away. No ball washers, no sand / seed containers, flag sticks have foam collars so balls won’t go in the hole, no towels, no restrooms, no pro-shop, no drinks, no drinking fountains, no benches. Play golf, have fun, but DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING!
men people can walk outdoors.
women people are confined to quarters.
I hope the golf courses stay open so that old people can golf. Are you saying 30 people cant social distance on a 5 mile golf course?
My course has stayed open.
Unfortunately I think all the gun stores and ranges will be closed too. They were open yesterday.
.....giggles....
It’s BS and totally political...Ducey stated, “The weather is great, find a way to go out and enjoy yourselves”.
lol....
People are just morons.
A lot of men are gonna lose some weight ;)
You can still take a walk outside Do it several times a weekday between clients via tele link.
Several days ago Ducey declaired golf courses to be Essential Businesses, and this executive order explicitly allows golfing as an activity.
The fact is, other than sharing a cart it's really easy to maintain social distancing on the golf course.
So the ability to defend yourself is not important to you.
Welcome to the party, Pal.
The politicians and the media are in full panic mode. Hope they stop before they further wreck the economy, which is not going to revive by spending financed by printed money.
A good chunk of the AZ economy comes from golf and tourism. Closing courses is to ruin our economy...for no reason. Golfers are walking, no touching.
Don't I know it! If I'm within 20 yards of the fairway my group simply assumes I'm cheating. I'm an EXCELLENT social distancing golfer!
I had to remind my buddy today that he was to maintain his distance from other people, not the hole.
Will Costco still be allowed to open? It is certainly part grocery store. And we are allowed to still go to the grocery store, yes?
