President Trump on Sunday said if his administration can keep the coronavirus death toll to 100,000 in the United States, it will have done a "very good job."
Earlier in the day, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the coronavirus pandemic could cause between 100,000 and 200,000 deaths in the United States. Trump said while 100,000 is "a horrible number," if the U.S. can keep its death toll to "100,000, so we have between 100,000 and 200,000, we altogether have done a very good job."
Trump also announced he is extending social distancing guidelines to April 30, a departure from his earlier declaration of having the U.S. "opened up" by Easter on April 12. That proclamation was "aspirational," Trump said.

I’m sure it’s out of context.....cuz that’s what the media does.
YAHOO NEWS = FAKE NEWS
Some Doc claimed that the peak would come in the middle of
May. Well after ski season ends.
I believe I heard him say that. Honestly, it wasn’t one of his clearer statements though. When he said it, my first impression way “damn, that many?”
Trump talking like a CEO in the boardroom when the MSM demands an empathetic national talk show host who will sob over a single dead celebrity...wont he ever learn? /s
He was comparing that number specifically to the 2.3 million that they say could have died had we done absolutely nothing. Also said not 1 death is acceptable to him. The media is the enemy. This will be all over Facebook and everywhere else and people will be yelling and screaming at one another instead of coming together. I loathe the media.
But is that what he said?
Because they expected 2.2 million, remember/

Partisan Media Shills update.
Very clear. The model predicts between 1.6 and 2.2 million deaths. 100k is a low estimate.
Maybe. But we’re sitting just at 2,500 right now, so 100,000 either tells me this is about to get much worse before it gets better, it has a good chance of recurring for many months, or Trump has reason to believe the number will come in much lower.
Yeah, MUCH different tone in context.
Still...100,000
No, that’s what he said as quoted in a Fox News piece, too, IIRC. And he’s right. If they can keep the death toll that low, they will have done a great job! Around 140,000 cases to resolve over the next few weeks, with more piling up every day for a while from now. Mid-April to the peak, hopefully not longer than that.

I understand what Trump said, but he has to know how the Press is going to spin it.
But you know what? It really doesn’t matter, they’ll always find something to go after him with. So screw it.
I don’t think so. I think he said it in the context of being shown models with possible deaths, if we do a bad job, in the millions.
Hopefully some Freepers will wake up.
Who cares?
This is the same media that chided him for pushing Trump pills as false hope.
As far as Im concerned hes handling the situation as best as anyone can and a damn sight better than and Democrat or Rino would have.
You again, doing anything you can to generate fear and panic to somehow soothe your butt hurt on Cali taxes. It was a point of reference. Some crappy model predicted 2.2M deaths in the worst case and 1.6M on the low end. Trump merely pointed out if that is true they would be successful keeping it down to 100K. In reality, by the end of April I doubt we’ll see 7K or 8K and it will be over for the year. Far less then the seasonal flu. So you need to find something else whine about.
If true, no, it would be terrible.
