The federal government, through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and state and local governments have started to receive analyses about the presence and movement of people in certain areas of geographic interest drawn from cellphone data, people familiar with the matter said. The data comes from the mobile advertising industry rather than cellphone carriers.
The aim is to create a portal for federal, state and local officials that contains geolocation data in what could be as many as 500 cities across the U.S., one of the people said, to help plan the epidemic response.
The datawhich is stripped of identifying information like the name of a phones ownercould help officials learn how coronavirus is spreading around the country and help blunt its advance. It shows which retail establishments, parks and other public spaces are still drawing crowds that could risk accelerating the transmission of the virus, according to people familiar with the matter. In one such case, researchers found that New Yorkers were congregating in large numbers in Brooklyns Prospect Park and handed that information over to local authorities, one person said. Warning notices have been posted at parks in New York City, but they havent been closed.

Me, too. Seriously.
Masking tape and duct tape hold civilization together.
Somehow I doubt this technology will be used to prevent or detect flash mobs, gang rapes, and bands of feral savages attacking lone elderly White males.
You would think their obama-fomes would be easy to track.
A couple years back, I ordered and received adhesive-backed slider windows that go over the camera ports on laptops. I got a half-dozen pack, under $10, and replaced the post-it notes and tape on our phones, laptops and iPads. You can probably search eBay for these. Very convenient, when you need Skype or FaceTime then you simply slide a cover to reveal the camera port.
Wow. In a time of need an inventor creates a solution.
But what will hold America’s civilization together now? Maybe shared debt.
Thank you.
Not maybe, for sure "shared debt". That debt is evident in the inflation that robs us all of our earning potential, even more so for our grandchildren's generation. I remember as a young man getting cheeseburgers for 24 cents, French fries for 19 cents and milkshakes for 18 cents. And it wasn't that long ago. This shared debt will cause our grandchildren as adults to pay maybe $50 for a burger, while their pay won't keep up with expenses. That's if America's "civilization" is not that much different.
Well stated and so true.
