Why in the world would anyone be stupid enough to order Chinese crap to fight the Chinese virus? Just... WOW...
Russian Roulette. Or Wuhan Roulette.
When you complained about the price of anything made, you contributed to the problem. When you put money into a 401(k) and expected it to earn 10% a year, you contributed to the problem. When your insurance plan handed your prescriptions over to CVS or Optum or TriCare...you contributed to the problem.
We are all guilty. American greed and how we take care of ourselves contributed to the problem.
The democrats are going to have a field day with this...and the existing Republican base is going to get slaughtered this fall.
Because they are not relying on a bunch of government CPAs and criminals to do their bidding.
I cannot believe the people in his country still trust their government.
They are a mix of criminals at the top. They hacks in the middle. And for the most part they are a mix of lazy, old, entitled, idiots in the rank and file. The percent of true believers in the government is lower than the death rates here.
Steel from China has a questionable pedigree. We have customers that prohibit us from buying material from certain countries and China always tops the list. Usually we have to provide mill certs, other times we just need to pinky-swear on it by signing a CFC letter. We just provide the mill certs since the only way we can be sure ourselves is to require it.
The Dutch are well-known hoarders. /sarc
China is the wild-west of manufacturing. Few rules, less enforcement. Some operations have high-quality because they were begun to serve very stringent standards (Apple). Others are filling orders for Wallmart or Lowes. The problem is the latter. Try buying screws from Lowes that don’t strip out when you put a screw driver to them. Try buying a drill bit set that is supposed to be made of high-speed steel where the bit either goes dull immediately or snaps.
FWIW, I do try to buy local and buy American, will bite the bullet and get my incidentals from the local hardware store rather than Home Depot (not saying the local doesn’t have ‘made in China’ stuff) but our local ‘True Value’ just closed after 10 years in a ‘good neighborhood’ but they just couldn’t get the locals en masse AND they did the ‘community’ leader thing, Blood drives were held & Sponsored, allowed space for meetings, supported the local HS etc etc.
Now ‘they’ get around it by labeling ‘stuff’ with Distributed by XYZ Co Schiff Falls etc etc.
Laugh when the local ‘Farmers Market’ is carrying stuff that may be out of ‘local season’ and the ‘fools’ are convinced that tomato they just bought was from the guys farm.
Don’t even try to tell them different....<: <: <:
Thanks for the information. I worked my way through college at Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, Michigan. Lots of fond memories from there (and some scary)...from track labor to test lab...midnight shift.
Good job and fascinating work!
