There are not n95s on the first two pages of Amazon. Those are dust masks. They will protect you when the virus grows wings and fly around in swarms. It ain’t protecting anyone for this thing.

They had them at our Walgreens last week....on the shelf.

Yet the stupidity remains.

“It’s not to protect yourself. It’s to protect people a...”

Wrong! It’s to protect the wearer AND the people around them. It’s two-way protection. All he had to do was watch some Korean YouTube videos to know why both the healthy and the sick should wear a mask.

I spoke with mask people yesterday. Asked if they wore them last year when 80,000 flu deaths, not an answer. I told them the mask could be a life long crutch and they’d feel like a ton of bricks was off their backs if they removed the masks. Plan on educating the fear dependency that mask people are suffering from.

Wait. What? I’m going to have to change my tagline that’s straight from the CDC?

My old tagline, again straight from the CDC, was them stating on their website they didn’t know how Ebola was transmitted.

I am sick of seeing people shopping in masks here. These people look disgusting. And it looks like China.

You should watch this vis a vis SARS-2 and wearing a mask. Asians learned from SARS-1 that everyone should wear a mask as long as the virus is active.

The big danger with SARS-2 is the stealth carriers. Wearing a mask protects both ways.

I’ll be wearing a mask as soon as my order for them comes in.

When I found a barbershop open yesterday it felt like I was 20y old and got into a bar without being caught. FREEDOM

What is the fatality rate?

Case fatality rate is deaths/known cases.

Population fatality rate is deaths/population.

I don't see much predictive value in population fatality rate until something has been circulating a couple of years.

I grocery shopped yesterday with a mask on.

Nobody gave me a second glance.

"Asians learned from SARS-1 that everyone should wear a mask as long as the virus is active."

Sadly, we prefer to learn the hard way. If we learn at all.

Problem is we don’t know how many have been infected nor much about antibodies, immunity or reinfection regarding this virus.

“Experts say face masks can help slow COVID-19, despite previous claims”

Not the ones made in China, though. You have a better chance with a hockey mask.

The early proponents of no-mask were clearly trying to reserve all supply for medical teams ... because masks WORK.

China is supplying masks that don’t work, and countries all over the world are using them

There is a pretty big nuance here.

The masks won’t prevent you from breathing in virus as much as they prevent you from breathing out virus. They also help by reminding you not to touch your face, which is a prime way for a respiratory virus to spread.

I made masks for my wife and I. Hand sewn. It was what I could do. 4 layers with a felt filter insert. I do have valved N-95 masks, but am saving them for when really needed. The cloth masks provide at least 80 percent protection. I am willing to go for that.

We go to town one every nine or ten days so its been twice so far during this “lockdown” in California. We where our masks. To hell with anyone that is upset. I really don’t give a f-—. Both my wife and I are in the perfect demographics for getting this dam thing and dying. That is not part of my plan so we will be proactive and do what we can do. We never worried about the flu...and still don’t. But this virus is a nasty little bugger that has many characteristics that virulogists are just beginning to figure out.

With that in mind, I will wear my mask...thank you. Prior to this when I saw people wearing masks I thought that they were wearing them to protect themselves versus because they were sick...

There was an article out yesterday that said that a homemade mask made from a pillowcase is the best alternative because it is at least 50% effective, and it is much more breathable than ones made from heavier materials ( dishntowels, cotton t-shirts, and vacuum filters, etc)

I don’t have a sewing machine, but know the basics of using a needle and thread.

I may get out my sewing kit later this week.

You can also disinfect masks by putting them in the oven . I have read temperature should be 160-70 degrees for 30-60 mins.
