Rising to the Challenge: Can This Be a Great Generation?

By now it should be fairly obvious that we are headed for an economic depression. Even small dips America’s economic activity produce recessions. The unprecedented lockdown of large parts of the United States will inevitably produce a depression such as we have not witnessed in our lifetime.

This would actually be a lucky scenario. If the shutdown goes on much longer the result will be a severe economic depression followed by fiscal breakdown and the unavoidable societal upheaval. Please make no mistake: the federal government cannot legitimately finance this country’s closure. The fact is that it simply does not have the money to bankroll the gargantuan stimulus it has just approved. In fact, our government is broke and it only lives on further borrowing. If we keep going on like this, it is only a question of time before the buyers of US treasuries completely lose their faith and the dollar collapses in an inflationary spiral. When this happens, all hell will break loose.

It’s not a great generation. It is a stupid generation. Ought to be ashamed of itself for being for easily panicked.

Americans by and large no longer have the moral character and moral fortitude for Greatness, so no, we cannot be a great generation. The current immoral generation cannot be great. We have it too easy. We want to much. We demand too much. We wan’t others to do things for us instead of doing them ourselves. We don’t sacrifice. We are soft. We lack character. Obviously there are many who rise above this description. We are not all identical, but by and large, this description is true. We are no longer made of the sterner moral stuff that great generations are made of. We are too worldly, to greedy, too soft, too envious, too lazy, and too immoral.

A great nation is one that fears the Lord. The choice is ours to make.

Agreed. The most recent generations are not worthy of ever being called great, including my Gen X generation.

The entire country will change. The Medical Profession will be changed profoundly. The people who will be insisting on it will be the influential. Wealthy. Politicians. Unfortunately, today’s doctors will be emotionally and intellectually able to defend their own profession under the pressure of the angry mob whipped up by corrupt politicians.

If. You have never read or seen “Dr. Zhivago” you might want to watch it this week.

I have seen it. Very tragic movie. And if you have not seen Trotsky on Netflix, you should watch it. The scheming, the hideousness of government gone mad.

Exactly. This is what we need to be on the watch for. If things are going to change it should be thoughtful. Not at the demand of an angry mob. Unfortunately today’s physicians aren’t going to have the spine to stand up to the mob.

“It is almost a law of history that the same wealth that generates a civilization announces its decay. For wealth produces ease as well as art; it softens a people to the ways of luxury and peace, and invites invasion from stronger arms and hungrier mouths”

My breakdown of Isaiah 3:5
People will oppress each other— political correctness
man against man, neighbor against neighbor. - multiculturalism
The young will rise up against the old, - the result of obsession with youth
the nobody against the honored - homeless bums are catered to as legitimate victims
The whole chapter reads like a direct prediction for the USA, UK, and Europe,

I think your comment is 100% correct. Our only consolation is that somewhere down the line a great generation will arise from the ashes of this mess. It is the cycle of history.

Economic vitality rests on the foundation of economic inequality.

Rich and high-income people will always pay poor and lower income people to do the work that allows them to live better.

The generation panicking are the old folks. The young folks and Millenials are the ones outside at the park. Boomers are shitting their pants.
