President Trump on Saturday night said the administration would not be issuing a quarantine on New York, parts of New Jersey and some of Connecticut as part of the efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
"A quarantine will not be necessary," he tweeted, noting that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) would issue a "travel advisory" later in the evening.

But you have to understand, the models they used to predict the fatalities and percent were highly flawed. That has already been admitted. The model used to predict fatalities estimated 500,000 deaths in the UK and 2.2 million in the US. Now he tells us, he (the modeler) thinks it will be 20,000 max in the UK and probably not even near that number. Now he tells us...sorry about that.
Trump's presidency will be judged on this one thing alone. Anything that happened before these weeks are irrelevant as far as November goes. This is the whole ball game for Trump and so I fully understand the politics of this. It's a shame one has to look at this event politically, but that is where we are as a nation now. That is why Trump is front and center constantly, which is smart.
There are a ton of shallow people out there and many will look at their quarterly 401K statements in April and blame Trump. While their cash flow is unaffected, people still "feel" flush with affluency or feel less well off and, of course, the president gets the credit or the blame. Unbelievably, I know a few like that.

I was just listening to a public health official today and he said he was happy with the results so far and the fatality rate is going to go way down. He predicted it would be in the 0.05 to 0.07 range - less than the flu at 0.10

If you take Italy, as an example, the average age of those who have died are 81 years old. Italy is the second oldest country on earth next to Japan, which is why their death rate is higher. The article I read said that many of those who died in Italy were sickly to begin with. I don't want to appear to be insensitive, but these are just facts and not hype.
My dad is 91 but in very good health and lives independently at his house, but with an abundance of caution, I'm not going to visit him, just in case. But I think he will be fine. As tragic as it is, the seasonal flu always takes some young and very healthy people, too. It happens every year and you never know why some people succumb and others don't.
So the seasonal flu deaths this year are estimated at up to 80,000 this year and this virus won't come close to that number.
It appears the media has you scared, but don't let them do that to you, you are better than that.

The mortality rate has risen to 1.8% as of today. In spite of the optimists predicting the mortality rate would drop as more are tested, the opposite is happening. Earlier this week the mortality was below 1.4%. The flu mortality is 0.1%.
Sigh. As time goes on, the fatality rate will go down. It is always highest in the first part of the curve. The testing on a large scale started just 5 days ago! Good grief.
I’ll believe it when I see data that supports it. This is a new virus. Predictions are worthless.
You have it exactly backwards: The flu, so far this year, accounts for about 20 times the number of deaths as does the Coronavirus.
Early worst case scenario predictions were based on exponential increases that are being proven less likely with each passing day.
People are afraid to let their guard down and that is understandable. Maybe the timing of the USA “curve” is farther behind Italy’s curve than we thought.
But at some point in the next week or two, if the spread of this virus doesn’t explode - there will be drastic downward revisions

Flu season is winding down. Coronavirus is revving up.
It’s just starting up. Daily deaths are doubling every 2-3 days. We don’t know when it will flatten.

Are all those deaths proven to have Covid-19 as the primary cause? Or are they the numbers of all deaths, including those completely unrelated to Covid-19, published to incite fear?

I think Trump’s action was primarily a bluff, since there are many leftists who are calling for a total lock-down of the entire country. Well, threaten to make it real...particularly in Dem controlled areas - And suddenly they’re changing their tune.
I recall that Trump was initially in favor of just taking precautionary measures, looking for a treatment and vaccine, and going on with life. Pity he didn’t stick with that approach, but then we had people like Cuomo going out, emoting and saying he didn’t want his mother to die...

The reported mortality rate of Covid-19 is grossly OVERSTATED, because the denominator only includes confirmed cases, which represent only a small fraction of actual cases. For every one case that’s been confirmed, there may be hundreds or even thousands, who have been infected, but whose symptoms are either nonexistent, or are indistinguishable from allergies, a cold or the flu.
Basing the mortality rate of Covid-19 on confirmed positives, is like basing the mortality rate of the common cold on “confirmed colds” - hardly anyone goes to the doctor for a common cold!
This scary “mortality rate” you alarmists are touting is being revised downward as we speak.
