It’s not that he’s a dumb stooge or that for political reasons his hands are tied and he can’t comment.
The man is a seasoned professional. An expert. And he is literally frozen in fear (presumably for his career). He can’t even discuss the topic or use talking points. He is like a deer in the headlights.
Now apply that fear to actual medical decisions.
For example, what do you think this guy would have said if he really believed in protecting the world against the virus by recommending travel restrictions on travelers from China?
How many potential dead would there have to be to unfreeze his brain??
