Set up quarantine tent cities, widely publicize them. Good deterrent.

If this is how we feel today I wonder what it'll be like in a month... I live in Florida. We have a similar problem with New York.

Exactly. In case they need reminding

Here’s more videos and irresponsible quotes and videos from the nyc health commissioner

“ “We are encouraging New Yorkers to go about their everyday lives and suggest practicing everyday precautions that we do through the flu season,” Barbot said on January 26th. She even added that those “who had recently traveled from Wuhan were not being urged to self-quarantine or avoid large public gatherings.”

On February 2nd, she urged the same lack of caution: “The risk to New Yorkers for Coronavirus is low, and our preparedness as a city is very high. There is no reason not to take the subway, not to take the bus, not to go out to your favorite restaurant, and certainly not to miss the parade next Sunday.”

so we know that this virus can be transmitted from one individual to another, but that it’s typically people who live together. That there’s no risk at this point in time — we’re always learning more — about having it be transmitted in casual contact, right?”

Cuomo was specifically asked about NYC residents bugging out who refused to self-quarantine after arriving at their destinations. He said that they didn’t have to self-quarantine because WuFlu is everywhere.

I don’t blame folks in other states for being pi$$ed.

Recently, I posted about a couple in our church, who semi relocated to an old family retreat near the ocean and how the natives there resented them being there.

This is a great couple, and we would be glad if they relocated to our cul de sac.

They were on my wife’s weekly call list. Yesterday, when she called, the husband informed her that they were back here.

He said the shunning by the life long natives in the little berg was too much. Also, his wife is a recently retired RN, and is helping their neighbors here and our church people, who are asking for advice.

He is a recently retired construction management engineer. He has offered his services as a consultant to the local hospital and city/county people.

This is their home, where they raised their children and most of their adult children live here and have grand kids.

That lady is such a fraud!

She should be held criminally negligent...for what is happening in NYC, right now.

Does she still hold her job? Will she draw a nice, NYC govt employee pension?

There are so many cracks in our Republic. Both the overreaction of our “leaders” on many levels and the willingness of people to panic and accept their freedom being taken away does not speak well for its future.

It’s jaw dropping isn’t it? Then they turn around, point fingers, and deflect from any personal responsibility.

Here’re the probs I have with folks bugging from a hot zone: Unless you drive straight through, you’ll likely come into contact with folks along the way who are at less of a risk than you are. And if you refuse to self-quarantine after fleeing to a locale less buggy than the one you left, which could put the folks there at greater risk, you’re just an expletive-deleted.

I hadn’t thought about that. Isn’t it curious how the whole concept of “sanctuary” towns, cities, counties and entire states suddenly went “poof” and disappeared?

I live in Florida. We have a similar problem with New York.

My wife’s siblings still live in the mid west.

Shortly after Christmas her two bros/wives head for Floriduh to spend the worse winter months in your state. One couple goes to the East coast and the other to the west coast. They rent condos and have rented them for well over a decade.

This year due to a knee replacement with one of wives and some tricky endocrine issues with the other SIL, they didn’t do the snow bird routine. So they cancelled their trips for this year. The owners on both side said no problem, see you next year.

Recently, both families were told by the condo owners, if this crud was still going on next year, please don’t come down.

Anyone who's ever driven through The Castro or West Hollywood knows that quarantine failed a long, LONG time ago.

I’m in total agreement with you.

Also, this virus is now probably different due to mutations/changes in the different communities than when it first came here.

So people going out of state or distances from they live to stay, might be bringing in a time modified virus without any minimal immunity into these smaller communities.

Yup.

That said, pols telling a family of four who domicile together that they can’t go out for walkies as long as they keep their distance from other folks is loony.

God help us when something even nastier than WuFlu gets here. We’re all going to pay for the erosion of public trust that’s occurred to due to cowardice, greed, and stupidity on the part of so many public officials.

The chains of Tyranny are starting to rest uncomfortably around our ankles.

And too many FReepers are helping to tighten the noose around our necks.

It’s sad watching the death of a once great nation. The boomers started off with “Hell No,We Won’t Go” and put in the kill shot “I might die”. One generation of cowards and it’s over.
