The rise is probably due to the perception that the president is more likely to be realistic about the balance to be struck between public safety and economic survival, than any of his Democratic opponents who would more likely take bigger risks with economic survival. I would imagine that outside of a few virus hotspots, the prevailing mood is “let’s get this over with sooner rather than later” and Trump is the only political actor with that sentiment fully showing.

I think there’s a political vacuum in Canada and other countries waiting for a spokesperson to arise with that alternative point of view. People can see quite clearly that there is no appetite in official circles here for any quick return to normalcy. And it worries anybody who can do basic math. Our government proposes to hand out at least eight thousand bucks to a large number of people, possibly as many as five million or more (total population of Canada is a bit shy of 40 million). The math on that, if you combine it with anticipated tax revenue losses from same persons not working, is into the 50-60 billion dollar range. On the scale of our economy and yours, that equates to a hit of half a trillion there.

And yet our deluded BC government continues to levy a carbon tax ... the combination is entirely ridiculous. Our alternative media are not as strong as in the USA although they do exist and they do have a following, mostly in western Canada.

Sometimes the stereotype fits :)

There’s enough of us WOPs on the south shore to tip the island over, like that problem Guam had :)

My wife actually subscribed to that filthy rag for a while. I finally got so sick of the left-wing bias I canceled it.

I don’t know anyone who voted for him!”
