Coronavirus: Temporary mortuary being built at Birmingham Airport
SKY News ^ | March 27, 2020 | by Tom Gillespie

A temporary mortuary site is being built at Birmingham Airport in preparation for an expected rise in coronavirus deaths, West Midlands Police have said.

It comes as Birmingham's NEC and Manchester Central exhibition centres are set to be converted into temporary hospitals by mid-April if required, Sky News understands.

Work has begun on the mortuary site which will initially be able to accommodate 1,500 deaths before expanding to hold more.

It is expected the temporary site could ultimately accommodate all deaths across the West Midlands, including those not related to the coronavirus, as regional mortuaries may close due to staffing the new facility.

West Midlands Police has said it is "vital that the right facilities are in place to ensure we give the utmost dignity and respect at all times to those who die as a result of this illness".

The force added it will do everything it can to accommodate religious requirements.

Senior Birmingham Coroner Louise Hunt said: "We understand that it is a very difficult time for everyone and we will do all that we can to make sure bereaved families understand what is happening to their loved ones.

Exactly. Idiotic and unnecessary post. But that is the quality of FR for the last three years.

Dr. Ferguson who started the panic now says most of the people who succumb would have died within a year anyway.

The correction question is not, “What family member would you sacrifice to save the economy?” The correct question is “How much debt do you want to saddle your children and grandchildren with to extend your life a few months?”

Jane - I would never live in that (currently)commie city.

I can see what is happening and the theatrics that the media has used for the past 3 years to include standing in puddles claiming they are being flooded and the reporter wearing a hazmat suit with respirator and the cameraman 6 feet away from that reporter wearing no personal protective gear.

How many bodies have they put in the temporary morgues? Do you know? How many bodies can the handle in NYC morgues?

1500 in the entire USA have been listed(with or without autopsy) as dying from the corona virus. I thin NYC can handle the flow of dead bodies to this point.

My whole point is that this is theatrics for the media.

NYC found a storage of ventilators that were sent there, after 2 days of media outrage that the feds were not sending anything.

Just like Puerto Rico and all the supplies we sent. Warehoused and we were told they never got them, until the truth came out.

Ah...got it, so you’re not actually in NYC inspecting morgue space availability.

Here’s some info that I found, with a simple search, regarding NYC morgue capacity...mind you, this is from a couple of days ago....

...Aja Worthy-Davis, a spokesperson for the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), said concerns about morgue capacity may be unfounded. In Manhattan alone, she said, OCME’s morgue can store up to 900 bodies. The city has a morgue for each of the five boroughs, she said.

Worthy-Davis told the news outlet that the city has the resources to increase capacity “pretty dramatically,” adding that “If you look back at what we did during 9/11, we have the ability to create mobile stations that allow us to house bodies if we run out of space.”

“All hospitals within the city tend to have small morgue spaces, so it’s possible that with the capacity of hospitals in New York City, there may be an expectation … that they’ll run out of morgue space,” she added.....

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/03/25/report-new-york-city-morgues-near-capacity/

It could be that the NYC hospital/s adding these makeshift morgues anticipate running out of space, quickly, due to small size of their in-house morgues.

And...I agree w/you regarding the ventilators...that’s on the city/DeBlab and Gov.

Someone chewed my head off, last night, for even mentioning that (about the storage ventilators).

I have no idea, as I don’t typically keep up with NYC, or any cities/towns morgue capacities.

Are you suggesting this happens every year, in NYC?

If you have proof/confirmation of that, it would be helpful.

Yep.

Too bad the CDC didn’t see an *expected* rise in the number of test kits and masks that would be needed, for a pandemic, or outbreak :-(

How else to you ‘plan’ for things, without reviewing possibilities and expectations?
