Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) was none too pleased with his colleague Thomas Massie (R-KY) for threatening to demand a recorded vote on the $2 trillion coronavirus relief bill on Friday. Because that meant he had to hop on a red eye flight last night and race back to Washington. The vote could fail if at least 216 members dont show up to vote on the floor. Gallego "thanked" the Kentucky Republican right before he hopped on the plane.
"Taking a red eye tonight," Rep. Gil Cisneros (D-CA) added. "The American people, small businesses, and our healthcare workers need relief now."
The relief bill, Phase Three of Congress's coronavirus relief effort, passed the Senate on Thursday by a vote of 96-0, a pretty astounding accomplishment after several days of contentious debate. Much of the disagreement was regarding House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's liberal wish list. The speaker came back to Washington last Sunday to demand new environmental measures be added into the bill, as well as millions of dollars in funding for D.C.'s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The bill was supposed to be centered on targeted relief for individuals and businesses in financial straits because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The House is currently in session debating the relief bill.

Cisneros needs to STFU and do the job his constituents elected him to do...
We the people accepted restrictions on our freedom and our ability to earn revenue during this crisis. These assholes can do their damned jobs.
Quick, somebody call a whamulance
I thought they got rid of most of the “cream” Pelosi added????
“The American people, small businesses, and our healthcare workers need relief now.”
No one argues with that statement-but it’s NO grounds for the usual monkeyshines or for passing things without READING them!!
Good bills or bad, congress critters should always be accountable for their votes. If the dem controlled HOR is going to sign off on this, not take backs later on claiming “it wasnt me”.
“...Also, sounds like this isn’t THAT serious if both house and senate are hell bent on taking their ‘much deserves’ Easter recess....”
Exactly. It’s NEVER serious if it’s gonna help the “unwashed masses” in any way. It’s only serious when they get to line their pockets with all the pork, or IF it promotes “orange man bad”....and, oh yeah...April 15th: milk the cattle day. They take that “serious”. /s
not take backs = no take backs
I just sent this to my Congressman:
Don’t send mortgage rates soaring and house prices dropping with a $4 trillion 2020 deficit.
Perhaps state/federal 20/80 payment for undoubtedly reasonable overhead costs of businesses states have ordered closed, federal unemployment insurance top up of $100/week, CHIP/Marketplace premium waivers, SNAP asset waiver of $4000, on-request self-employment tax waivers for 2020 and refunds of 2017-2019 SE tax in exchange for 20% 2022-2024 SE tax rates and for airlines, advance federal payment of flights at $20 per boarding and 20 cents per mile for unrestricted future federal law specified use.
The bill is what RINOs wrote.
I guess you did not see the 11Billion for International funds such as the African relief fund. Meanwhile, money for the filling of the Strategic oil reserve with cheap oil was killed. Never plan for the future, just react and waste as much money as you can.
Kill the bill!
Why didn’t he thank AOC? She said the same thing
If it is so urgent, why did you leave Washington before the job was done protecting the American people. Mr $178,000 a year Congressman why did you choose to leave before the job was completed. The Teenagers are exposed still working at the Grocery to put food on your family’s table, do your job no matter how inconvenient.
So much to being able to blame Pelosi for the delay.
Sorry to wreck your break. Maybe you shouldnt have gone home before your job was done.
Take note of those not hospitalizedfrom both parties. They should be on the first lampposts in from the airport.
A bipartisan bill has welfare for the feckless and for corporations.
I just have the sniffles now.
Once the bill is signed into law I’ll get really sick.
By the time the dust settles I imagine the 2020 deficit will be a lot closer to $7 trillion and $4 trillion.
Pfffftttttt! Still WAY to much crap in there. Her wishes may have gotten reduced but most of it is still there. And the turtle is SOOOOOOO proud of his senate colleagues.
Guess he/they thought Internet voting was a thing.
