China accused Secretary of State Mike Pompeo of having an "extreme evil intention" after he used the term "Wuhan virus" in relation to the coronavirus pandemic.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Thursday that the continued use of the phrase was "slandering China's efforts to combat the disease" and was an attempt to jeopardize international collaboration to fight the virus.
"This American politician insists on defaming China against the international consensus," he said in a press briefing. "This is an attempt with extreme evil intention to divert domestic attention and putting the blame on others."
President Trump has repeatedly accused Beijing of concealing early knowledge of the virus but has since tweeted that he would no longer call it the "Chinese virus."

“Evil Intention”
Good name for a band or song.
“Chinese disease” is appropriate.
Never order the bat soup!
Then let’s call it the “Wuhan Bioweapon” and bus this thing wide open.
Right. We should name it Scranton virus in honor of Slow Joe.
That is where is started. Duh.
Someone needs to tell the Chinese that the world is angry with them, and they need to go sit in the corner until we’ve taken a few minutes to catch our breath.
We should be subtracting the cost of the Wuhan Virus from the amount the USA owes on our Chinese debt. These disgusting whiners would have NO modern economy if our companies, such as Apple and Walmart, had not sold out to them in the past.
I’m good with that. Wars and rumors of wars.
President Xi Jinpings The Yellow Peril ChiCom Wuhan Pneumonia Novel Coronavirus aka the Red Death/Mass People Killing Virus, Chinobyl#2, The Yellow Peril, CCP virus Made in China!
Excellent idea!
Maybe I'll also pass on the soup too. Would hate to think that it might contain my neighbors cats and dog meat as well or some of our other neighbors goldfish.
It strikes me as hilariously funny, that the godless, Christ-hating communist chinese butchers would accuse someone else of “sin”, if you will. How does one say “cheek” or “chutzpah” in Mandarin? Or “guts” even?
nice cartoons
Exactly my thoughts. And since they attempted to cover it up and screwed us around at the start, that should mean triple damages.
The Chinese should feel embarrassed for their food choices. If this came from the wet market, then the Chinese people are just as responsible for this virus as their government.
If they want to be accepted as part of the first world, then act it. Eating bats and dogs just makes us disgusted with your country and people.
