A major source of information upon which government leaders have relied to urge or order the canceling of public events, shut down of businesses and sheltering in place has proved to be inaccurate.
The Federalist's Madeline Osburn points out many members of the media and state officials are relying on an online mapping tool called COVID Act Now.
The site, with a map of catastrophic forecasts for each state, boasts of enabling "political leaders to quickly make decisions in their Coronavirus response informed by best available data and modeling."
"But a closer look at how many of COVID Act Now's predictions have already fallen short, and how they became a ubiquitous resource across the country overnight, suggests something more sinister," Osburn wrote.

here’s a link to The Federalist article that WND stole lock, stock, and barrel:
“Inaccurate Virus Models Are Panicking Officials Into Ill-Advised Lockdowns”
it’s a better article and a better headline than the cheap copy by WND
Thanks for the link.
and i just discovered that The Federalist article had already been posted here twice yesterday ...
None of those four events resulted in shutting down the economy in a huge part of the USA, including telling people that they cannot leave their homes except for food or medicine. So I would say yes.
In that case, he’d be in favor of spreading panic instead of arguing there’s no reason to panic.
YES! HOW MANY IN US HAVE DIED FROM FLU SINCE FEB. 15th or March 1st?
Huh?
Strange no one is telling, no one even asking......except me?
Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report
global warming alarming isn’t done yet
thy say no cars, no AC, no single family homes.
Ok, Flu hospitalizations are 65 per 100,000.
What is the rate for Covid-19?
Flu & Pneumonia deaths are 7.1%......of those infected? It’s not clear. If so, way above Covid-19!

Inaccurate Virus Models Are Panicking Officials Into Ill-Advised Lockdowns

The website says that the model is designed for POLITICIANS to make quick decisions. We all know that very few politicians are mathematical or scientific thinkers. They operate on feelings. They don't want to be held responsible, etc. etc. etc.
From this article it seems possible that the model created by a few people in a group called COVID ACT NOW is what is leading the world into a tail spin. Their website had a very inclusive disclaimer to attempt to have no liability and a long list of "current limitations of the model." A few of the many limitations are the following:
R0s for interventions are guesses , in some cases informed by data. There is no historical precedent for what is going on right now to draw from.
The model does not adjust for the population density, culturally-determined interaction frequency and closeness, humidity, temperature, etc in calculating R0.
Demographics for the USA as a whole are used, rather than specific to each state.
Do we have some politicians who would do anything to get/retain political power? m m m m m
I meant this for another thread since I found the Federalist article here on this thread. Thanks again for it.
I would caution people using worldometer.info site that is widely consulted, that is is a very secretive website based in Pudong Shanghai, extremely opaque as to who actually runs the site, seems connected to something called Dadax, They have no public spokesman, and do not answer questions.
Their info seems very generally accurate, it may be a legit site, but one has to consider that being accurate 99.9% of the time and inserting an occasional inaccuracy could be a way to seriously mislead.
Says on page one of their site:
This model is intended to help make fast decisions, not predict the future
-So there you go, it is not about the facts or predictions, its about pushing for immediate action, economy, peoples mental health be damned.
Be careful about using worldometers, it is run by nobody knows who in Pudong Shanghai. Why do they have no public face? Who runs it? Weirdly secretive.
I remember looking at that site a few days ago in checking out its predictions on various states. In a nutshell, if you did social distancing or nothing 70 to 90% of your state will get infected with the coronavirus and depending on the population tens or hundreds of thousands would be dead, however if you instituted a mandatory quarantine for three months everything will turn out Perfectly no issues, no overwhelmed hospitals no massive amounts of deaths etc. To me the site was basically saying hey government, you must Lock down your population according to us, whoever we are, dont question it just do it.
