No where close to 10-15% will need a bed. Maybe 1/100 of that. Hopefully that is true. It is true for Switzerland. The number is even less in Germany but their numbers are a little fishy. But by bed we have to talk about an ICU bed, not just a hospital bed.

Well, as I read your comment I am getting ready to leave to go cover a hospital that has an entire ICU, and part of a converted floor filled with Covid patients. Given that we really don't have a handle on what the true number of infections is, it's true that we don't know exactly what the actual percentage of patients who develop severe viral pneumonia and organ system failure is. That said, it is NOT causing severe disease in just ‘the elderly and those with preconditions’. One of the things that is disturbing about this virus is that we don't know why some people wind up with severe infections, and others not.

As of yesterday NYC had 20K positives and 3800 in hospitals. 19%.
