Law-abiding citizens want the right to buy a gun, especially in the midst of a pandemic. Police have stopped responding to many 911 calls, and massive numbers of inmates are being released early from prison. If shortages become more severe or if lots of police fall ill, chaos may very will ensue. People would rather be safe than sorry.

I heard that is true elsewhere, too.
In the City of Detroit one officer is dead (dispatcher, RIP) and nearly 100 are now awaiting tests and are in quarantine. Before that the force was estimated to be 100 officers below normal strength due to retirements and not enough new recruits.
How many cities can do without full complement of officers and keep out of school teens and cooped up hotheads docile?
I live in Illinois. Amazingly, our governor thinks so.

Considering it’s a right spelled out in the 2A, I’d say it’s one of the most essential things in any crisis along with food, shelter and medicine.
This goes without saying.
