Here’s everything you need to know about the coronavirus stimulus package

The Senate’s massive economic stimulus deal to counteract the coronavirus includes a massive bailout for New York’s transit system and a ban on aid for President Trump’s holdings and those of members of Congress.

The lesser-known provisions were stuffed into the $2 trillion package during marathon negotiations between Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York and Republicans, which ended early Wednesday in a deal.

Schumer’s office said Democrats won a $150 billion boost in hospital funding, a $150 billion relief fund for state and local governments and $25 billion for transit systems.

Of the transit dollars, $4.35 billion is earmarked for New York state, of which $3.8 billion is earmarked for New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Schumer’s office said.

The MTA, which operates city buses and the subway, is cutting service as demand plunges. Subway ridership is down nearly 90 percent.

The ban on aid to Trump family businesses was heralded by Schumer in an early-morning letter to colleagues. He said the $500 billion business loan program run by the Treasury Department will have an inspector general for oversight and a ban on money flowing to Trump, whose businesses brought in $461 million in revenue in 2018.

The final bill, which still has to be written ahead of an anticipated vote Wednesday, also boosts max unemployment pay by up to $600 a week, which Schumer said in a floor speech Tuesday means that furloughed workers can essentially get a full paycheck for four months during the crisis.

Seriously, two years ago?

2018 would be the most current tax year with essentially all income taxes having been filed.

Why should Trump employees suffer? They will get $1200 one would hope but what about their jobs? What about the managers, accountants, maintenance crews, marketing pros and so on?

What about the utility bills, the restaurant refrigerating units, the air conditioners, the hotel suppliers, and so on and so on?

I fail to see how singling out any American business in this way is nothing more than a political hit job designed to hurt people.

I think you should pose as a big business, call Schmucker, Hillary Rotten and Satan, tell him you are ready to donate megabucks to their slush funds but your business needs a bail up.

Watch the money flow to you.

Be a democrat.

Number one : If the Democrats are associated with it in any way, form, or fashion, there is a hook in there somewhere.
Number two: Those who actually need the money will not receive one red cent.
Number three: Most of the money will end up in the treasury of The Democrat National Committee.

Holy smokes, well look for a huge spike in the unemployment number that will last for at least four months.

That's up to the employers. If you voluntarily leave you aren't entitled to unemployment.

I was laid of last year (after almost 25 years with the same company). Been trying to find a job for months, but it’s difficult when you’re a “seasoned” IT manager. Had some severance, but that ran out in early December. Have been using my savings to pay my bills, but finally swallowed my pride and signed up for unemployment in February. My earnings last year (with my severance) are too high for a stimulus check, and since my unemployment isn’t due to a Coronavirus layoff, the supplement won’t apply to me. But my already-poor job prospects just got much worse due to the economy. So I miss out on all sides. Oh, and to add insult to injury, my former company is now making a fortune on Coronavirus testing. Trying very hard not to be bitter, but it’s not working.

I imagine the rate you get is based on how much you earn. Not everyone will get 600.00 It says UP To $600.00 a week.

I don’t think its constitutional for a law to single out one person.

Supposedly the bill doesn't. The provision also applies to the Veep, members of Congress and Executive department heads.

Still can’t find any specifics on the $500 per child if you have many (7) children. Would love to know.

Whatever this entails, I hope the have a plan to pay for all of this when things get back to normal, plus shrink the deficit at least.

We have been deadbeats for many years and this will guarantee we will never pay back our creditors.

Maybe they can add a same day constitutional concealed carry as a mea culpa so citizen voters have protection from all the new non citizen democrat voters this would create.

-- I don't think its constitutional for a law to single out one person. --

What is forbidden is singling out a person to become a criminal. There laws thjat are literally called private laws, passed by congress, where the beneficiary is a named person.

"Bill of attainder" has a narrow definition.
