the senate bill as it existed on this past saturday is reported on fox biz cavuto to have a flaw in that it makes it possible for some people to go on unemployment and collect more money than they would make working in the job that they had before unemployment. the flaw was inadvertently inserted into the bill due to complications in calculating unemployment insurance accurately for the 50 different state systems. grassley’s subcommittee worked on the original wording. grassley (interviewed by phone) is claiming that there would be big problems if any changes were attempted to to the bill wording now due to politics, and that the democrats would certainly not mind if the moral hazard were created. so grassley and the senate Repubs are
attempting to investigate whether the flaw can be fixed at the Department of Labor level through regulatory means, bypassing the need to change the bill.
of course Congress screwed it up...and of course they cant easily fix the problem...
