In a significant move, India has banned the export of hydroxychloroquine, an anti-Malaria drug that is believed to work as a medicine for treating Coronavirus infected patients as well.

According to a late-night notification by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the export of medication and the composition ingredients used for its manufacturing have been banned.

"The export of Hydroxychloroquine and formulations made from Hydroxychloroquine under any ITCHS Code... is prohibited with immediate effect," the DGFT under the ministry said in the notification.

Recently, the national task force for COVID-19 constituted by Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has recommended hydroxy-chloroquine as a preventive medication.

"Hydroxy-chloroquine is found to be effective against coronavirus in laboratory studies and in-vivo studies. Its use in prophylaxis is derived from the available evidence of benefit as treatment and supported by preclinical data," the advisory said.

Recently, the FDA also freed India`s IPCA from import ban so that it can ship unproven COVID-19 treatments. The FDA in 2015 banned products from three IPCA manufacturing facilities.

It’s actually understandable. Why? Because India’s very high population density and lower hygiene levels makes it extremely vulnerable to a fast spread of COVID-19.

“ It’s actually understandable. Why?”

FBN reporting it’s in response to tariffs.

Thanks, Richard Nixon and EPA, for driving most of our pharmaceutical industry abroad.

Maybe this will wake some people up to the drawbacks of globalism. The elites don't care about little people losing their jobs, as long as they continue to make money. If some of them die because the drugs that could save them are all embargoed abroad, maybe they will wake up.

2015 the FDA banned.. interesting. Wasn’t that the year Andy Stern left the union agitating job and signed onto the board of SIGA pharm? Would that 2015 ban have been to the advantage of Virginia’s pharm companies?

Thanks, Richard Nixon, for ushering Red China into the world economy. Had it remained in "angry isolation," to use his words, the virus might never have left its shores.

True, although I don’t think Nixon (or anyone else in 1972) foresaw most of our manufacturing capacity moving to China. He just saw them as a counterweight to the Soviet Union.

Fox Business News clearly believes that in India the population doesn’t use medications.

It’s not hoarding when you make it.

The Problem is that most states elect idiots for governor (except Texas where the idiot with the authority is lieutenant governor.

Only West Virginia has gotten the ball rolling and set up a factory to manufacture hydroxychloroquine.

This should have been done before or concurrent with the quarantines.
