People in densely-populated Singapore and Hong Kong (were talking NYC-dense here), where white collar workers are squashed into tiny cubicles, are managing to go back to work without significant new infections. The secret is face masks. Given the toll imposed by infections, whether in terms of suffering or potential death, Id say it makes sense to charge anyone not wearing a mask with aggravated assault. Minimum 6 months in prison and a felony record. After a few highly-publicized convictions, combined with the medias klieg lights on the scofflaws, everyone will wear a mask.
But gooberment officials here said that wearing a mask could be worse than wearing no protection at all.
In order to wear a mask, you have to have a mask. Actually, a supply of them, since reusability via kitchen sterilization isn’t proven to work.
The US is woefully short of masks at the moment.
But, I agree with you that would be the way to go once the masks are produced.
330 million masks (which could be per day) puts a big strain on the medical supply lines that are already strained. The government would have to procure and supply the masks as well, because I know such items are hard to get in my area right now.
Regarding your tag line, I once had a 76 Grand Le Mans. Mine had the inboard-outboard motor! I often called it my “land yacht”.
Oh but face masks are only effective for medical workers. You don’t know how to fit them properly or something. They only help to prevent the spread of the virus from infected people.
Do the people saying these things actually believe them, are they that stupid or do they think we are all stupid enough to believe them?
I’ve heard enough lies, half-truths and misleading statements made to last a life time during this mess.
