The country is already well on its way to acquiring herd immunity,  but we'll be keeping on with our gulag plans just the same, thank you very much.

Maybe some testing is in order?

I guess I don’t fully understand the herd immunity argument.

To get herd immunity, don’t you need to have the herd infected.

That’s the plan?

The Oxford study has already been debunked, apparently. Too bad, we could have been harvesting Brits for a vaccine.

from the link in post 5

“Herd immunity (also known as community immunity) is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as “a situation in which a sufficient proportion of a population is immune to an infectious disease (through vaccination and/or prior illness) to make its spread from person to person unlikely.””

What if half of the British population is already infected with coronavirus?

This crazy proposal is based entirely on this completely unproven and non-nonsensical assumption.

Let’s get some herd immunity going in Washington.
Pegrossi and Nose-Glasses Schumer first.

“Two obvious questions, though. Is it realistically possible for the virus to have infected 30 million Brits in the two or three months since it made its way from China to the UK?”

Possible given the numbers of Chinese tourists we get here.
It was noticed in December that they where all wearing face masks.
Only Japanese tourists normally wear them.
Then about a month and a half ago, they just abruptly disappeared.
Then the story broke.
If my assumptions about the masks are right, they all knew about the virus.

if a bunch of people are have it but symptomatic and therefore are immune this theory makes a lot of sense. but we can’t test that theory until we can have enough tests to do widespread testing of asymptomatic people.

How nice. Another attempt to invent millions of asymptomatic cases where there is no evidence that those exist.

Any “study” that relies on the concept that millions have already been infected without showing symptoms is bogus. The only way to determine if someone has had an asymptomatic infection is through a blood test. As far as I know, no country is testing the population for asymptomatic cases.

BUT as more Test Kits soon being available the “Positive Results” #’s are going to go up as well and the MSM is going to Milk That # for Everything they can get.

Getting REAL Data from MSM is harder and less reliable than getting any REAL Data from China. (MSM = Seriously Bought/ Paid for and Owned by DNC)

Herd immunity, that's what the Netherlands are doing. The only restrictions in place is social distancing. Supposedly, after 60% have had it the virus will die out. Worth keepiong an eye on.

Not doubting you at all, but do you have a link to the debunking.

I haven’t been able to find it yet.

Sounds like the virus is not as strong as they projected. Sounds like 80% or more have little to no infection. Ihe Italians had too many Chinese and may have spread in the churches through communion.

The Oxford theory has been my desired solution from the start. I had Measles, Mumps, Whooping Cough, Chicken Pox, Pneumonia all before I was 7-8. I have had a lifetime with an iron clad immune system. I’m a healthy 86. Herd Immunity worked pretty good back then because there were no Vaccines except Small Pox.

I’ve heard ,for whatever it’s worth, that herd immunity occurs when 80% of a population is immune to an infection, making it difficult to pass the infection onto the rest of the population. Ironically, 80% of those who are infected with COVID-19 disease have mild or no symptoms at all. Is it a leap of logic then to quarantine those of the 20% most likely to have adverse reactions, and let the rest of the population acquire immunity?
