Gov Newsom says California coronavirus prevention measures could last another 12 weeks

Californians should expect social distancing measures to last at least through April as the state fights coronavirus, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday.

Californians have been under stay at home orders since Thursday to slow the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. It’s a tactic designed to space new cases over time so the hospital system isn’t overwhelmed, what’s become known as flattening or bending the curve.

“We’re trying to bend that curve, but we haven’t bent it,” Newsom said. “April for California would be sooner than any of the experts I talked to would believe is possible.”

Newsom’s comments come a day after President Donald Trump said “America will again and soon be open for business” as the dramatic measures taken to fight the disease have ground much of the country’s economy to a halt. The president said he would like to see the country - at least major portions of it - open for business by Easter, on April 12.

Newsom said he could see the social distancing measures lasting as long as 12 weeks. All Californians, not just the elderly, need to be careful.

All the Democratic governors will keep things closed down as long as possible.

If Trump rescinds National Emergency then I THINK governors can’t just keep it up unless approved. Like say New York might get state of emergency approval if they grow exponentially.

So I HOPE Newsome is full of shinola but would love to hear what others think.

” All the Democratic governors will keep things closed down as long as possible.”

whatever ... they can destroy their own states if they want to ... after all, a major of the voters in their states elected them ... in the mean time, President Trump will be re-opening the rest of the states in 19 days ...

Disastrous for the state if he keeps everyone on stay-at-home until mid-June. Absolutely disastrous. Tidal wave of small business failures.

We have shut down our state and country to protect the most sickly, and infirm of our population. Where else in nature does that occur?

The DEM governors are going to let Trump take the bullet for opening the country back up, with the belief that if everything goes south after doing so, they will get to blame Trump.

Nuisance must’ve heard that there’s a 6 trillion dollar stimulus plan in the works and he won’t settle for less than 5.9 trillion of that.

The Dem response to Trump’s desire to get back to normal by Easter. If most of the country is back to normal, the pressure on Newsom will be enormous.

What I find interesting is that New York and California, the two states that made “fly over country” so frickin’ funny to say about the rest of this great country, are the two hottest zones in this country for CORONAVIRUS now. They have become “FLY BY STATES” as in who in the he’ll wants to be in eithe4 hellhole.
