Dr. Anthony Fauci on Tuesday said President Trumps stated timeline of lifting of restrictions on parts of the country by Easter Sunday should be "flexible."
Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and a prominent member of the White House's coronavirus task force, added it is important for public health officials to gauge how widespread coronavirus is in parts of the country that haven't reported significant numbers of cases.
Thats really very flexible, Fauci told reporters at the White House when asked about the presidents timeline, which he floated earlier Tuesday during a Fox News virtual town hall on the coronavirus pandemic.
You can look at a date but youve got to be very flexible and on a literally day-by-day and week-by-week basis. You need to evaluate the feasibility of what youre trying to do.
Fauci suggested regions with fewer cases may be able to ease guidelines urging people to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people and stay away from bars and restaurants before harder-hit areas. But he cautioned officials don't have enough data to determine where those regions are.
Aggressive testing and subsequent isolation of individuals who are found to have the coronavirus can help keep the disease from spreading to parts of the country that have yet to see an outbreak, Fauci said.

It's not written in stone. It's just a date subject to change and re-evaluation is needed.
I’m going with Fauci on this. Maybe Easter 2095.
Right. He stated a goal, not a firm deadline.
I didn’t hear him say that Easter was an absolute date, just what he hopes will happen.
Trump said he thought it should be flexible. Why does the media do this?
This is obvious. The media once again playing semantics and splitting hairs.
It's time to start reining in the media whores. These types of articles are from asshats trying to enhance their credentials, IMO.
“You need to evaluate the feasibility of what youre trying to do.
How do you do that when you’re only willing to test people that are very ill, seek treatment, and get their doctor to agree?
Dr. Fauci is still saddled with “an abundance of caution”. While this methodical approach has served him well through decades, sometimes it begins to chafe and get in the way of REAL accomplishment. Perhaps, Dr. Fauci and Donald Trump are pretty much in agreement, except in the speed of execution once a decision is made, and it makes for optics that reflect confusion and indecision, when little or none exist.
Fauci wants to be the last word. He’s out of line.
I think we’ll see the “flattening” around April 2nd or 3rd.
This should be done at the county level not at the Federal level anyway.
All the media wants is for Fauci to contradict Trump on something and they have their story. That’s ALL they care about.
PDJT has just telegraphed his intention to end this by Easter. He has set up expectations and it will happen. Americans are not going to wait for permission.
I think Trump understands that...
of course it’s flexible
Agreed. We may not have to wait that long.
What you hear from Trump depends on whether you’re an optimist or a pessimist.
If 15 days was a good first target, 30 (adding 3 weeks less a day) is even better. If we’re still accelerating cases, I’m sure Trump will adjust. It’s foolish to complain this early.
I’d feel differently, given what I know of the increasing number of cases, if the President had said, “15 days is enough, lets get back to work, sorry old peole.” But that is not what he said. And we have the peaking of cases in other countries to give us some guidance.
And Fauci himself said one size shouldnt fit all in terms of containment policy around the country. My god Im not sure how long it festered in NYC. But most of the issue is that city area alone .
This is just my opinion - just an average American thinking like an average American.
This is a wicked bad strain of the flu. We get the flu bug every year, same as always every year, but this one is a one-in-a-century bug.
Now being as it’s the flu, oncce the weather gets hotter and spring turns to summer we will see the end of it.
JMHO.
