US doctors are hoarding two rumored anti-coronavirus drugs for themselves and their families, helping to drive a nationwide shortage, a report said Tuesday.
The doctors are prescribing chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine for themselves and their loved ones even though there is no scientific proof that the pharmaceuticals combat the contagion and as lupus and arthritis sufferers who use the medicine go without, according to pharmacists and state regulators who talked to ProPublica.
Its disgraceful, is what it is, said Garth Reynolds, head of the Illinois Pharmacists Association, which was alerted to the situation through calls and emails from concerned members.

I think the drugs have been extensively tested.
So?
This should be easy enough to track and prosecute. There is an obvious paper trail.
Trying to turn them into kulaks
Exactly. Doctors SHOULD be doing what they can so they can continue to help others.
During the Anthrax thing I worked with an 0-6 who got Zpaks for all her family. She was proud of it and boasted. Reprehensible behavior.
Sorry, if a doc is exposed to the ChiCom flu at work, he should be able to take whatever measures seems appropriate. It’s not hoarding, if it is being used.
Trump needs to use his emergency powers to make Big Pharma get going on producing critical meds, on a huge scale, here domestically.
Stay away from the pool cleaner.
Why should a doctor be treated any other way than everybody else. I discovered as an intern. There are damn good reasons for the things we do and when you deviate to do someone a favor, well, i have seen that go to hell EVERY TIME. When I get sick dont write doctor on my chart anywhere and trust me, I won;t be sharing it. Treat me like everybody else. That way I know everything that is done will be the Right Thing.
Seems a good idea the Physicians get treated first, followed by the support staff in order of importance to the Physician.
It would be interesting to look at the rate of serious infection among groups who take this drug...
Like places where Malaria is rampant...
Well, is it not common sense to insure first responders have treatment first?
For example, If the Chinese doctor had not died he’d have been able to treat hundreds. What would happen if our ambulance drivers, EMTs, nurses, and doctors started dropping like flies?
This report may be true, or it may be like all the bogus stories of tanker trucks dumping gasoline out in the desert to inflate prices during the oil crisis in 1979.
“Funny how the media demands ventilators, masks, and other ppe need to be produced faster. Yet they just want to moan about the scarcity of a drug they don’t even believe in.”
LOL. In the media every event, and I mean every one, is viewed through the prism of how it can be used to bash Trump.
It was apparently not scarce as hen's teeth, at least not last year.
