Why believe CNBC click-bait?
Yeah I don’t think it does either. Wouldn’t we be hearing this from Japan and South Korea as well.
What is 0.1% of ten billion?
Unless they propagated the virus in cells, and showed that it can replicate after that long a period, they can’t comment about ‘survival’ of the virus. If they just swabbed surfaces and did RT-PCR, all that proves is that viral RNA can hang around for a long time.
“CDC says coronavirus survived in Princess Cruise ship cabins for up to 17 days after passengers left.”
Coronavirus not the only germ/bacteria/virus/yeast to survive I’m sure!
No, viruses cant reproduce on their own, which is one of the reasons they dont meet the criteria to be considered alive. They hijack and reprogram the replication machinery of the cells they infect to cause the cell to churn out more copies of the virus. No host cells, no viral replication.
CNBC click-bait! There is a reason they didn’t link the paper or make specific quotes.
Of course 90% never read past the headline.
“They probably asked the ship owners not to clean so they could gather data.... meaningless data but data”
Certainly, but not meaningless at all. Wiping surfaces always follows hand washing in the instructions for protective actions.
Corona is just one kind of virus you have to worry about on cruise ship beds.
CDC says coronavirus survived in Princess Cruise ship cabins for up to 17 days after passengers left.
That is NOT what the CDC said.
What an absurd question.
Only bacteria can order room service.
Viruses have been discriminated against for decades and i’m sick of it!
They only recently got the right to vote.
Of course they vote dem.
Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh! That means that this psycho-insane, wildly inordinate, communist-takeover “lockdown” response is TOTALLY warranted! </hard-sarc>
I SPIT.
There is more than the headlines?! - oh interesting :)
Was it viable? How much was there? How many virii are needed to infect, just one? Inquiring minds want to know.
“Unless they propagated the virus in cells, and showed that it can replicate after that long a period, they cant comment about survival of the virus. “
CDC didn’t but with their power of click-bait, CNBC spreads fake news.
Look at the study and the graphic at the bottom of the infected cruise ships. This virus went EVERYWHERE at breakneck speed. ALL. OVER. THE. WORLD.
My antennae keep twitching that this was a bio-weapon experiment that China initiated.
I think 17 days is bogus, but what does the industry do to get customers back with crap like this?
OK, let’s look at the full picture, which is something NO NBC/CONCAST “news” outlet will ever present:
“Traces of new coronavirus were found on surfaces in cruise-ship cabins for as many as 17 days after passengers left, researchers said, though it wasnt possible to determine whether they caused any infections.”
note that TRACES were found ... whatever that means
and here’s the kicker:
“The latest study looked at uncleaned rooms, but other research has found that cleaning the rooms of Covid-19 patients was highly effective at killing the virus.”
they found “traces” in UNCLEANED rooms!
AND cleaning was “highly effective at killing the virus”
that is all ...
Per CDC report is states SARS-CoV-2 RNA was identified on a variety of surfaces in cabins of both symptomatic and asymptomatic infected passengers up to 17 days after cabins were vacated
Somebody at the CDC shorted the stock.
