At a glance: Nearly $2 trillion coronavirus rescue package

...The highlights so far:

ONE-TIME CHECKS TO AMERICANS

The measure would provide a quick, one-time stipend of about $1,200 per individual, $2,400 for couples, and $3,000 for family of four. The money would cut off at higher income levels.

PAYCHECK SUPPORT

An estimated $350 billion would be provided for small businesses to keep making payroll. Companies with 500 or fewer employees could tap up to $10 million each in forgivable small business loans to keep paychecks flowing.

UNEMPLOYMENT EXPANSION

Establishes a new, much more generous unemployment benefit by adding $600 per week to normal state benefits for up to four months and provides an additional 13 weeks of benefits to 39 weeks of regular unemployment insurance through the end of 2020 if they are sidelined by the outbreak.

EMERGENCY FUNDING, PUBLIC HEALTH

The bill includes an additional $242 billion in additional emergency appropriations to fight the virus and shore up for safety net programs.

INDUSTRY AID

The initial GOP plan called for $208 billion in loans to larger businesses like airlines, which would have to be repaid, and a subsequent; a version released over the weekend called for $500 billion.

STATE AID

Republicans and the administration have resisted demands by Democrats and governors for aid to the states, whose governors have requested $150 billion to shore up budgets.

$2 trillion is more than the GDP of Italy, Brazil, Canada, and yes even Russia. It a bit less than half the annual Federal spending. It's a shi*load of money we don't have. And as of today, we don't know the full scope of this China Virus. There has not been a single committee hearing or vote in Congress - or debate on the floor of the House or Senate. Nobody has read the bill. It will probably be one of those 2,500 page boondoggles.

Before we make money drop from the Heavens, we should immediately:

- Expand and expedite unemployment. Including gig workers.
- Halt business payroll tax collection. Big business, small business.
- Cover all medical costs for the China Virus. Every penny.
- Assess when the 15-day Trump evaluation ends. About a week.

Pelosi is holding it up because she wants student debt forgiveness in it as well as an end to the Hyde Amendment and total government control over businesses the government bails out. I despise that bitch.

The money would cut off at higher income levels.

I have been affected by the shutdowns financially but my lazy ass neighbor in foreclosure for years and defaulting in Chapter 13 gets a check and because I have been carrying their fat asses all these years by working and earning will most likely not get a check. Real fair.

The politicians destroyed the good economy and millions of jobs. Restore the jobs so people can be self- supporting again ! and forget about buying votes with more fake “free” welfare-design money

Not one damned cent to any company that has done a stock buyback recently.

Responsible individuals keep their money in reserve. ESPECIALLY the airlines who have spent billions buying back their stock.

How much does the IRS collect in taxes each year? Why not have a fed tax holiday for a year as a start?

The World Health Organization put the death rate at a seriously false inflated rate, tanking the world economy, and yet we have Freepers still hyping the fear saying this will get worse (the death rate will go back up) when they don’t know this as it dropped from 4.06% to 1.25% in less than a month.

It may go up and it may not, we don’t know, but they know all. But all we have with knowable certainty are the stats we have right now as the WHO seems incompetent, yet they seem to trust them.

Typical leftist Illogical... “If we raise taxes by 10%, revenue will go up by 10”; No, it won’t... They always think in terms of straight line math with no logic. In this case they saw 4.6% rate and extrapolated it causing a panic.

ALL corporate bailouts should require a full payback to taxpayers, whether via equity or debt, at recovery.

The Fed is busy transferring wealth as we type. Buying up stock with money that they print and therefore we all pay for via inflation.

I suspect it’s going to be even more than that.
When you calculate how many businesses have been destroyed.
And the time it will actually take to recover (perhaps 2 or 3 years)
Some will not recover at all. Their otherwise thriving business have been destroyed.
People will have personally amass a sizable debt with their mortgages and rent..not to mention everyday bills.
Other people will stay on unemployment and collect other government bennies long after this has past.
Just because they can.
And we don’t even know when we will be over the hump?
