I’m not sure that’s exactly the same drug. I don’t know the study you are mentioning but hydroxychloroquine was developed as a safer alternative to chloroquine which did have side effects.
HCQ is probably the most prescribed non-antibiotic drug in the world.
I used it many, many times in the military for months at a time and occasionally use it to go on safari.
While I am sure some fraction of a fraction may have weird side effects, that’s true with life.
Taking it for a few days won’t risk any adverse affects which are only seen after many years of use.
