Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) blocked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnells (R-Ky.) attempt to set up a Monday morning vote on the stimulus package, effectively delaying the vote until the afternoon.
McConnell had vowed earlier Sunday that he would force a second procedural vote related to the stimulus package at 9:45 a.m., 15 minutes after the markets open.
But when McConnell tried to lock in that time, Schumer objected, denying the GOP leader the consent he needed to enact his plan.
Instead, the Senate will vote for a second time after they come into session at noon on Monday.
Schumer said he and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin were making good progress.
I think theres a good chance we can have an agreement, he said, adding that Democrats were fighting for a better bill.

FINALLY a sensible plan.
Im weeks away from retirement - will continue to work if he does that

He wants a worse bill. With pork for graft and a little bit of baby killing language.
And why does Schumer get to veto McConnell's decisions, he's the MINORITY leader?
Does this mean that McCarthy is the Speaker of The House?
Excellent idea!
I can think of three who could very easily put on a mask and get on the Senate floor and vote which makes me think that they are "self-quarantining" so that they don't have to vote. Cruz/Lee/Romney - how convenient.
The GOP wouldn’t have this problem if they dropped the supermajority rule.
Millions of people are at home watching the news and are watching closely. People saw what the democrats did. This will come back to bite them in November.
Lock all Senators in the Senate Chamber, bring in the handful of Senators that have the virus as well, and tell them all that nobody leaves the room until they get a 60 vote solution. They will pass a bill in less than an hour if put in the same room as someone who has the virus.
Senators introduce rules change that would allow for remote voting
The rule change would have allowed remote voting during a national emergency, but it was MCCONNEL who shot this down! If this is such an Emergency that we need this type of legislation passed immediately then WHY is McConnell not allowing 5 of his GOP members to vote? - Thus causing a 47 to 47 vote on the bill today which basically allows both sides to simply blame the other that nothing was passed!
From the news story: "Leadership, however, has shot down talk of allowing the Senate to vote remotely. Instead, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said they could lengthen votes and encouraged senators to conduct "social distancing."
Well not be doing that. There are a number of different ways to avoid getting too many people together, McConnell told reporters. "
5 GOP members plus Bernie Sanders did NOT VOTE. But it was McConnell who shot down the idea of remote voting thus sabatoging the vote and providing political cover for those not voting. Think about it!! So I'm calling BS on McConnell. Don't play games, get with the times and the declared National Emergency and change the damn rules and allow your Caucus to VOTE! We see what is goign on here!
I remember in the 90’s, hurricane Andrew, I think. Gov “walkin’ Laughton Chiles” of Fla, deliberately refused to ask Pres Bush for federal help. He WANTED his people to suffer just to make Bush look bad before the election.
Democrats will hurt the people just to gain political points.
DEmocrats are LAW-LESS because Republicans are BALL-LESS!
Why isn’t PDJT calling them out live on this...it is all over abortion funding. He needs to expose the now.
Look at the 5 GOP not voting. It's garbage. Why are Congressman getting tested for Covid-19 when there are numerous stories of American Citizens being denied testing when they have had fevers and symptoms? Let's see the positive tests! I wan't to see them. Cowards. Avoiding votes. Change the d--- Senate rules if its a Natioanl Emergency. Your Staffs are working remotely, WHY CANT YOU??
Indeed! a 47 to 47 vote is nonsense!
Strip the bill of anything except pure funding. PDJT hold a press conference outside Senate. Call Nancy and Chuck to the podium to explain their no vote in front of camera.
We spent Trillions in Afghanistan and Iraq, but we cannot spend the same when American people are being hit by a pandemic?
WTF is wrong with you?
Here's the vote: Measure Number: H.R. 748 (Middle Class Health Benefits Tax Repeal Act of 2019 )
Most live of lf cortuption like Biden and the Clinton’s so they would be unaffected.
