U.S. stock futures opened sharply lower on Sunday night as Wall Street waits on Washington to agree to an economic stimulus and rescue plan to combat the giant economic blow from the coronavirus outbreak.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell more than 900 points, or 5%, to hit their limit down level. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were also down around 5%. Downside limits to futures contracts are implemented to ensure orderly market behavior.
U.S. crude futures also slid by more than 4%, adding to last weeks massive losses.
Futures could be highly volatile as headlines come out of a coronavirus task force news conference Sunday evening and as traders await news on a stimulus bill agreement (or lack of one).
CNBC main mission is to destroy the economy.
Pelosi is in the same classification as Soros and the Beast.
I think this will be the FOURTH time in 6 trading days that we’ve hit limit down / circuit breakers.
Now I know what people in 1929 felt like.
Picked a heck of a time to retire..ugh.
Pelosi is just pissed that the whiskey companies are turning to hand sanitizers rather than her beloved hooch.
This is silly.
They cant move the package forward because the Dems are demanding outrageous crap AND they know we have 4 senators on lock down!!!
I used to dread Monday because it was back to work day. Now I dread Monday because I know the stock market is going to tank again.
You and me both. I relish weekends now because I don’t have to hear about the market.
Shes holding it up until shes long the market.
I just checked some of my bond funds..ugh - down 10, 11% on average.
Looks like Corporate Bonds are getting absolutely hammered along with stocks.
Even my favorite balanced fund (Vanguard Wellesley) is down 14+% YTD. Worst ever YTD drop far as I know..
Treasuries (eg: Vanguard Total Bond, which is heavy US Treasuries) is holding up marginally green.
So much for diversifying my portfolio with bond funds.
They cant move the package forward because the Dems are demanding outrageous crap AND they know we have 4 senators on lock down!!!

From March 22 (Reuters) - Three members of the U.S. Congress have tested positive...
Senator Rand Paul (R) tested positive for COVID-19 and is in quarantine.
Representative Mario Diaz-Balart (R)tested positive after developing symptoms on March 14. That was less than 24 hours after he and more than 400 other members of the House of Representatives crowded into the chamber to pass a sweeping coronavirus aid package.
Representative Ben McAdams (D)
The Utah Democrat said on March 18 that he had the virus, also having developed symptoms on March 14.
WHO IS SELF-QUARANTINED?
Republican Senators Mitt Romney and Mike Lee said on Sunday they would self-quarantine after having spent time with Paul.
At least four others in the chamber have self-quarantined. They are: Republicans Cory Gardner, Lindsey Graham, Rick Scott and Ted Cruz who has since returned to work on Capitol Hill.
At least 18 House members have self-quarantined Not all are still in isolation.
They include: Republicans Steve Scalise, Mark Meadows, Tom Cole, Doug Collins, Drew Ferguson, Matt Gaetz, Paul Gosar, and Ann Wagner....and... Democrats Don Beyer, Anthony Brindisi, Julia Brownley, Jason Crow, Sharise Davids, Kendra Horn, Gwen Moore, Stephanie Murphy, Ben Ray Lujan and David Price.
can self quarantined senators vote? I guess it’s only a couple weeks
Interesting to hear that the U.S. can't even buy many of these supplies from European sources -- because our FDA requirements are much more stringent than theirs.
Line I saw was Rand Paul “thus will not be available to vote”.
In this era more than ever, is that line factual or not?
it sounds right for current rules, maybe they would consider changing it for emergency
Paul would probably vote NO, anyway.
