As much as I like Mike Pence, I really turn off when he starts to speak. He sounds like a politician, or like he’s acting. This polished way of talking, voice going up and down....I don’t know. It seems so rehearsed. It’s not like the president....talking to us quite naturally rather than put on for dramatic effect.
I think it takes both approaches.
true about Pence, but he is also I think trying to be a straight man to Trumps colorful style. they’re a good team, and Pence can step up to the plate with great flair when its needed

Formally trained radio people develop a certain style that stays with them once they move on to more financially viable endeavors.
Most politicians have always spoken and presented that way. Trump broke the mold, and began talking to us as if in a personal conversation. This is one of the reasons he’s so popular and why people relate to him so well.
